PPI

I finally got around to looking into this after years of ignoring it. I apparently had PPI on a number of products in the past. I haven't kept any of the paperwork and it is all over six years old. Barclays have confirmed that I had it and I have written to them to start a claim. However, if I have no paperwork, no details and can't remember even what address I was at, how do I proceed? I have moved house a lot.
I am sure there are other products we had PPI on too, but I have only just written to Barclays.

Can anyone help advise me?

I've checked on moneysaving expert and it is all a bit vague as to what steps to actually take.

Use MSE resolver.
Easiest way to check several banks.

If they've confirmed that you had PPI you shouldn't need any paperwork or info, they will do the rest. They should send you a form to fill in, you will need to provide a reason why you think you were mis-sold the cover (not informed it was optional/led to believe you wouldn't get credit without it/covered under other policies etc) but it shouldn't matter if you answer 'don't know' to most of the rest of the questions. I got a huge amount back and had no details whatsoever, if they've confirmed you had it you shouldn't need anything.
