School band playing Michael Jackson

It’s been decided that the school band - a group of 11 year old boys - are going to play a Michael Jackson number at the next concert. School staff were involved in this decision.

AIBU or is this just massively inappropriate in the wake of the Leaving Neverland revelations?

The in’s and outs of the documentary aside, the fact here is that Ralph Harris/Gary Glitter we’re both convicted, aside from which I think that most couldn’t even tell you what Gary glitter performed anyway. But Michael Jackson was never convicted in fact he was found not guilty.

Do I think he was innocent? No although I don’t think he was normal either. Equally though I think that the parents of any child who allow their child to sleep naked in bed with a grown man are almost equally culpable if something then happens to that child.

But MJ’s music is separate from what he is alleged to have done. These allegations are not new. The documentary merely talks about what people already knew and yet it’s only recently and because of a documentary that people have started to insist that MJ’s music be boycotted? People have known since the 80’s who/what MJ was alleged to have been. The man has been dead for ten years now, so I fail to see why a documentary should influence people’s thinking when that thinking should already have been in place if it was there.
