It’s been decided that the school band - a group of 11 year old boys - are going to play a Michael Jackson number at the next concert. School staff were involved in this decision.

AIBU or is this just massively inappropriate in the wake of the Leaving Neverland revelations?

At DD’s last speech day one of the year 10 boys did a MJ tribute bit. He’s very talented but I found it slightly inappropriate given the crotch grabbing ( which 9 year old DS was very amused by), I doubt he would be allowed to do it now

Also we're fed for years how he only liked white young boys - ignoring the many girls who also stayed with MJ, that Jordan wasn't white, Emmanuel Lewis wasn't, all the sisters who stayed but weren't famous as their brothers, his niece who stayed lots and had a relationship for 7+ years with WR during the time he alledges abuse, and so on

I don't understand how any of this information is relevant, changes anything, or means there's a chance WR and JS might not have been abused?

A court found him not guilty.... Same with OJ Simpson.

Odd to not mention that he dated her during all of his allegations. Of course it's possible she knew nothing... and it happened, but odd to erase her from history and his reason for being present at NL some of the time he was. She was a big part of his life during his visits. Not even briefly mentioned at any point. They were best friends and dated right up till he cheated with several known women. More kids defend MJ than have accused him. A lot are angry and some state they're being offered huge amounts to change their tune about defending MJ by the press.

Yeah it's possible JS was abused... but a triggering detailed story proven untrue is not going to help his credibility. Reed could have at least researched before drawing out graphic accounts and publicly sharing them on a platform rather than discredit the very guys he claims to give a voice to.

I went to see my DD2's (age 10) school show today, took my DM with me.

It wasn't until her class started singing Waltzing Matilda and my DM asked me "Do you think they've had to pay royalties to Rolf Harris?" that I realised how deeply unsettling it was - I just hadn't realised/remembered it had been his song.

1/ There was no formal 10 to 13 year investigation into Michael Jackson
2/ The FBI did want to bring a federal case against Michael Jackson but because of the statute of limitations it did not happen
3/ Jim Clemente in 2001 reached out to Michael Jackson's head of security and told the head of security that he was responsible for the safety of the young child in MJ's entourage
4/ Jim Clemente also told the head of the security if MJ was a pedophile that he could help him and gave him his card
5/ There was another victim during the investigation that shut down during the grand jury and because of this MJ could not be charged for that victim
6/ The FBI found both Jordan and Gavin credible and Jim Clemente stated that Jordan did accurately describe the markings on MJ's genitalia
7/That there will more than likely be more victims coming forward

I didn't even know who MJ was till I was an adult. Hard to believe but I grew up in a bloody cult! No I wasn't a fan. His music was ok when I heard it as an adult but I don't own a single cd.

If Jim Clemente is the same person I think - will google later, hardly credible either.

But if you can't handle that someone isn't a crazed MJ fan and looks at things as a CSA survivor and takes issue with Dan Reed doing this documentary and doesn't feel at all "helped" or that WR or JS are being helped by this either and actually having their credibility undermined... well that's really YOUR problem.
