To be freaked out

Not a woo thread. But I keep finding these 'things' about my person (see photo).

Found the first one hoovering the car out on Saturday. It was in the cup holder. Swear it hadn't been there before. No one else uses my car. Asked partner what it was. They had no idea.

This morning I was putting my makeup on and found another (blue this time) in my handbag.

Then I found another one in my work lunch bag.

Partner swears it wasn't them. Daughter too.

So firstly what are they?

And secondly how are they getting in my bags!

They look like the cables from the inside of a desktop computer or the wiring from the inside of a car. Have you had anything fitted to the car recently like a dash cam or sat nav?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/03/2019 08:45

The blue one looks like a motherboard cable. The black one looks like car wiring, I don't recognise it as a computer part.

WarmCoffee · 25/03/2019 08:49

Very odd! Have you ever had satnav or Bluetooth plugin or phone charger plugin thing in your car? Did you buy the car second hand? Where do you work? An office? When you say work lunch bag, do you mean like a brown paper bag with food in, or do you use a rucksack /tote bag? Do you use the lunch bag for other things?

What are the ends like on the blue one? Like an iPhone charger, or headphone jack, or just plain wire?

WarmCoffee · 25/03/2019 08:52

I think if your handbag is an open-type one, and you work around computers, a wire could easily be knocked in at work. The one from the car is not so odd I don't think. Could it have come off the hoover? The lunch bag is odd, depending what kind of bag it is, and if it's sealed.

I have a enamel poppy pin that follows me and arrives in places it shouldn't be. It even turned up in a cupboard above the oven when I moved house.

Not helpful sorry.

Just found a yellow one in my bag! I must have missed it before.

No electrical work done on car recently. I hoovered it at the weekend and partner was worried that I had pulled some of the electrics out.

Honestly all I can think is that DD is pranking me (she's 7) but where would she get them from? So weird.

Check your bag last thing at night and first thing in the morning, before you leave for work, at lunchtime, before you leave work.
You should be able to narrow the window of opportunity and therefore the culprit, if someone is pranking you.

ALongHardWinter · 25/03/2019 18:23

The blue one looks like a motherboard cable, not sure about the other one. Do you keep your handbag under a computer desk?
Reminded me of something strange that happened to me years ago, that I've never solved. My DM had one of those see-through,domed umbrellas, and asked if I wanted it as she didn't like it. I said yes, took it home with me,and put it in my hall cupboard, after showing it to my DH,saying that he wasn't to use it as he had a habit of losing umbrellas. A week or so later,I went to get it out of the cupboard, but it wasn't there. I virtually accused my DH of having used it and lost it,which he flatly denied. Anyway,I more or less forgot about it for a couple of weeks until I was at my DM's house again, and she produced the umbrella, saying don't forget to take it home this time! I was gob smacked. I could have sworn on my life that I'd taken it home the last time I was there. So I must have dreamt/imagined showing it to my DH and putting it in the hall cupboard.......

wow longhardwinter! that reminds me of that ironing board thread a while ago! (did she ever find her ironing board?)

Anyway, i solved the mystery! it was DD pranking me (hilarious) apparently her grandad has bought her a circuitry kit to play with at his and she brought them home. And put them in all my bags. When she admitted it she screamed 'happy pranksgiving!' and ran off.

Kids!
