AIBU to ask people to just spend 2 minutes looking at these pictures? *MNHQ warning for images containing items relating to Child Sexual Abuse*

Europol are once again asking members of the public for help with solving child sex abuse cases. In many explicit photos of children there are clues in the backgrounds (objects / scenery) that can help Europol identify the locations the images were taken, and help therefore identify where the exploited children have come from and find the perpetrators. Europol are therefore asking for the public to help identify objects / scenery from the backgrounds of some explicit photos taken of children. All explicit material / images of children have been removed from the pictures before being posted by Europol. I figure Mumsnet with a large international readership may well have at least one member who can identify an item / location from one of the images posted, so if we can all spend 2 minutes viewing the images it may well help Europol with their investigations.

I have total admiration for those whose job it is to put these fires out. I can't imagine being that person preparing the photos for public viewing. It must be soul destroying. I read that article posted up thread. Harrowing. Absolutely harrowing. But there's an amazing force of good out there. People must never lose faith in the goodness and tenacity that I'd like to believe is in most of us, but specifically in those working to save trafficked/abused children.

I looked but don't recognise anything. Sickening.

dressinggowndonna · 24/03/2019 15:49

Please share widely

I looked at these last night and like a PP had a dream/nightmare about this. Sorry don't recognise anything, was wondering what the context of some of the photos were, eg those empty tables and benches but maybe I don't want to know. Sad

I don’t recognise anything but I hope someone does

Makes me sick to my stomach. Some people are complete and utter evil bastards. I didn't recognise anything but this thread is great to make people aware.

Inaquandry06 · 24/03/2019 20:24

Didn’t recognise anything but bumping.
I too thought the first top looked like one that had come from Asda/primark

Bloodybridget · 24/03/2019 20:39

I looked but don't recognise anything.

anunseemlylovefordustin · 24/03/2019 20:48

Looked but didn't recognise anything. Utterly chilling, those poor children :( Bumping.

Bluewall · 24/03/2019 20:59

Just to let people know the photos mainly just show items of clothing or bags etc which have been cropped out or backgrounds which have been cropped so no one is in them. A couple have a white blob or in one a cut out silhouette where the child is. While the idea is very sad the images themselves don't show anything upsetting. Just to let others know who are worried to look. I was put off by the comments but looked in the end and the images themselves I didn't find very upsetting but the idea of the children obviously did but I would have that just from reading the thread so it's worth looking in case you can help. Unfortunately I didn't recognise anything.

marchingonwards1234 · 24/03/2019 21:16

That is heartbreaking. Like a PP said though it's worth my sadness at looking at them, if there's any chance it could help provide some info. I didn't recognise anything though.

I thought the logos on the bottles for example were too blurry to help, I don't think many could recognise them because not clear enough?

Thanks KitKat. Have forwarded the link to contacts in Asia

Bump. Keep looking!

I’ve been able to contact them about the identity of 3 things and a possible 4th (location). There’s an object in one of the photos. The manufacturer produces such items for a small, specific region.

It’s so worth getting this out there. OP, kudos!

SoHotADragonRetired · 25/03/2019 09:46

Had a look, didn't recognise but worth trying. Would suggest those who think a top is an Asda/Primark design to screenshot and send to them for confirmation, as suggested.

Didn't recognize anything, just bumping the thread. Thanks for sharing it OP, I didn't know about the website, I'll check it regularly and hope I can help one day.

Those poor children, so heartbreaking. Sad

Wow. That's fantastic.

This is a massive forum. And the profile will be people who are largely, heavily invested in child welfare, and form a huge cross-section. From every walk of life and every geographical location.

Bumping again.
