AIBU to ask people to just spend 2 minutes looking at these pictures? *MNHQ warning for images containing items relating to Child Sexual Abuse*

Europol are once again asking members of the public for help with solving child sex abuse cases. In many explicit photos of children there are clues in the backgrounds (objects / scenery) that can help Europol identify the locations the images were taken, and help therefore identify where the exploited children have come from and find the perpetrators. Europol are therefore asking for the public to help identify objects / scenery from the backgrounds of some explicit photos taken of children. All explicit material / images of children have been removed from the pictures before being posted by Europol. I figure Mumsnet with a large international readership may well have at least one member who can identify an item / location from one of the images posted, so if we can all spend 2 minutes viewing the images it may well help Europol with their investigations.

I spent alot of time in Thailand and some of the pictures remind me of there, but not much help is it?

I met British men there who travelled to Cambodia to abuse small children. They moaned as it was harder to get access to the younger girls in Thailand.

They discussed this openly at a community dinner on Christmas day. I obviously did not stay at the table, feel sick thinking about them years later.

None of the other people at the dinner said anything to them, it was like it was a quirky and amusing preference they had and it was accepted.

Thanks for sharing this Op, truly hope it helps.

@HotChocLit that's interesting, I was thinking America. We don't get so many of the ranch style houses with steps.

liamhemsworthsrealwife · 24/03/2019 08:34

@OpalIridescence that's horrific. Did you inform anyone?

lboogy · 24/03/2019 08:41

Don't recognise anything

runsmidgeOMG · 24/03/2019 08:44

Oh gosh ! I had reservations about clicking on the link, so sad :(
The cola benches remind me of a food court in the Philippines BUT I was there over 12 years ago and they all look pretty generic. I couldn't decipher one mall food court from another. Really hope these pictures help someone

MonoClue · 24/03/2019 08:44

I don’t recognise anything but bumping to keep this thread in active

GirlcalledJack · 24/03/2019 08:46

I’ve looked but can’t identify anything.

With regards to the Baseball cap identity, there is a Canadian you tuber who is massively into baseball, he might be able to identify the team it belongs too, but I’m not sure how you would even word a message?

YouSayRisottoIsayRisotto · 24/03/2019 08:47

Runsmidge It couldn't hurt to say that you think it was similar to one you saw there. That then narrows things down.

teaisabrew · 24/03/2019 08:47

The cap is Albanian

Limezested · 24/03/2019 08:52

Bump

OpalIridescence · 24/03/2019 08:55

liams.

I can't really answer your question on here apart from to say I kicked up a fuss and it did not help.

The value of some lives in some places is basically nil.

TotallyAnonymousUsername · 24/03/2019 09:05

I didn't recognise it but planning on sharing the link on Facebook groups I'm in, the more eyes the better

Justtheoneplease · 24/03/2019 09:09

Bump, sadly I don't recognise anything.

Science9 · 24/03/2019 09:14

Gave me shivers :( poor kids. I hope someone can help

polarisation · 24/03/2019 09:28

This reminded me of this Guardian long read about how police in Australia used clues like these to shut down a massive online paedophile ring. A bit of a harrowing read: www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jul/13/shining-a-light-on-the-dark-web-how-the-police-ended-up-running-a-paedophile-site

HappybutsometimesGrouchy · 24/03/2019 10:56

I feel so unnerved after looking at those pics 😢 so very, very sad, I hope those poor children can be rescued. The 'sweet little puppies' one really saddened me.

TheVanguardSix · 24/03/2019 11:21

I didn’t sleep well last night after looking at these haunting images.
OP thank you for this vital link though. How hard is it to look at these images? So hard. It’s what we cannot see that hurts the most.
I’ve sent a message regarding the coastline/city photo. And I’ll keep plugging into this site. Every pair of eyes matters.

SorryAuntLydia · 24/03/2019 11:30

Bump.
Please look everyone - I was nervous about what I would see - but it’s a genuine link looking at photos of T-shirt’s, hats etc.
This is so important.

Prequelle · 24/03/2019 11:34

Watching for later

LizziesTwin · 24/03/2019 12:08

Bump

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 24/03/2019 12:31

Bump. Between us, us mumsnetters must have covered most corners of the globe. If every mumsnetters can bring themselves to look (the photos are just of places or items - no people), it could really make a difference.

I believe the pictures are updated every few months?

Nameisthegame · 24/03/2019 12:39

Bump
