Everyone keeps blaming the parents. Jesus wept! Of course they were naive at best and delusional/ignorant or greedy at worst.

They were still groomed/seduced and abused. Parents are meant to protect their kids obviously but grown men are it meant to sexually abuse kids. The blame lies at MJ door. Times were diferent then. Did the term 'grooming' even exist? Many people struggle with the idea that survivors are complicit in the abuse even now. Back then, a parent would presume all is well if your kid is that happy and desperate to spend time with the adult. We look at it with hindsight.
If Barbara Streisand has seen the documentary and honestly feels they're ok because they're not dead, she needs to watch again. I am honestly tormwnted by their faces, particularly Safechuck, he is so clearly damaged. Sad

KrazyKatlady · 23/03/2019 22:40

Just read Barbara streisand has changed her comment. Will try to post a link.

southeastdweller · 23/03/2019 22:46

It's on her Instagram as reported by BBC news:

AnnaNutherThing · 23/03/2019 22:48

Very bizarre comments.

justasking111 · 23/03/2019 22:51

Saw her on tv twice recently. Once in a concert, boy her voice has gone and with James Corden in the car thing, she is one eccentric old broad now.

Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 23/03/2019 23:12

aha

Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 23/03/2019 23:13

knew that would happen

americandream · 23/03/2019 23:28

Barbra said (in her 'apology,) 'I truly admire James and Wade for speaking THEIR truth,'

Nice. So she is not saying she believes them, or retracting much of what she said. She is just saying 'well done for posting YOUR version of events.' Wink

Stawp · 23/03/2019 23:51

What a fucking cunt, I mean I always thought she seemed stuck up her own ass but I didn't think she was actually a bad human being until now.

thankssomuchforthat · 24/03/2019 06:52

To be honest I found Peter Andre just as offensive on Loose Women sticking up for MJ and saying he didn't believe the two abuse victims on Leaving Neverland.

DeadWife · 24/03/2019 07:17

Didn't know that about Peter Andre thankss, but it rings true, he strikes me as a huge ego on skinny legs anyway. Probably associates himself with MJ levels of fame and can relate.

AbriaFern · 24/03/2019 07:31

Why does no one mention Lisa Presley? The woman who married him and stayed married to him? She is on video being quoted he’s got a thing for children and continually denied any claims against him years after their divorce. Guess her broke ass needed his hush up payments.

thankssomuchforthat · 24/03/2019 07:41

Peter Andre came 2nd to Wade Robson in the MJ competition that Wade won. I get the feeling hes close to the Jackson family. He covers MJ songs on his live sets i think.

emilybrontescorsett · 24/03/2019 07:59

I haven't read the whole thread but;
It Does not matter what the parents did or did not do.
The person to blame here is MJ.
The abuser is to blame.
Would any one accept a school saying this about a child who said they were being abused " well your parents allow you to spend time with the baby sitter, so we are not getting involved, it's your parents fault. "parents

Stop victim blaming.

BitOfFun · 24/03/2019 08:20

She sounds absolutely batty, like many people on the subject of Jackson. HUGE mistake to make those remarks publicly, and I'm surprised she wouldn't realise that.

YouSayRisottoIsayRisotto · 24/03/2019 08:31

Stop victim blaming

The parents are not victims here. MJ is not a babysitter that abused the parent's trust and abused the children. They made a choice to allow an inappropriate person control over their child for their own selfish reasons.

If you leave your 4 year old to play alone in a pond you can say it wasn't your fault you didn't drown the child the water did.

MJ was 100% the abuser but they were 100% responsible for their failures as parents.

Aeroflotgirl · 24/03/2019 08:54

Would PA leave his kids with him then, probably not!

thankssomuchforthat · 24/03/2019 09:18

"Would PA leave his kids with him then, probably not!"
Precisely. I was shocked at him defending MJ. Always quite liked him until that.

emilybrontescorsett · 24/03/2019 10:07

Well I think the fact that two of the parents committed suicide does make them victims, especially in the case of Jordan Chandler whose family suffered vile accusations.
Don't get me wrong I agree 100% with the wife of one of the men who refuses point blank to allow her child to be left with one of the victims morhers. She might have even stopped his mother from seeing her baby at all I can't remember and I totally get that.
I just want people to focus on the fact that whether the parents were complicit or not, the fact remains that the real perpetrator was MJ and his crime is no less of a crime.

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 24/03/2019 11:02

Streisand has dug herself deeper in a hole by saying " I feel bad for [MJ]. I blame, I guess, the parents, who would allow their children to sleep with him.”

Feel sorry for a serial sexual abuser but blame the parents. Streisand is a despicable person.

Oliversmumsarmy · 24/03/2019 11:23

It Does not matter what the parents did or did not do

But it does

By that analogy you can’t blame Madeleine McCanns parents for leaving her alone in an apartment with the front door wide open. All anger should be directed towards the unknown kidnapper.

You have children and your responsibility as a parent worldwide is to protect them from sometimes themselves.
To deal with the tantrum and upset when a single childless rich famous old man offers to take your child to his private fairground (which to a little boy must have sounded like super fun) then to have a sleepover with him. The answer as a parent should be no.

As a parent you have to do a risk assessment on virtually everything.

If MJ just wanted to fill his ranch with children and enjoy seeing children happy he would have invited parents along with the children and everyone would go home at the end of the evening.
Anything without parental supervision would be very suspect.

differentnameforthis · 24/03/2019 11:49

@mummmy2017 Nice victim blaming there!! He groomed the whole world, or the vast majority of it.

Even you if you are prepared to blame anyone but him for the abuse those men suffered as boys.

@Duster12 - The facts: he wasn't a paedophile, and actually, he was investigated by the FBI for ten years

Yeah, no they didn't. Your "facts" are wrong.

Michael Jackson (1958-2009) was a famous singer and entertainer. Between 1993 and 1994 and separately between 2004 and 2005, Jackson was investigated by California law enforcement agencies for possible child molestation. He was acquitted of all such charges. The FBI provided technical and investigative assistance to these agencies during the cases.

From vault.fbi.gov/Michael%20Jackson

differentnameforthis · 24/03/2019 11:50

She also said this of the MeToo movement,

There’s Me Too for a start, which she thinks is “very powerful”, but “unfortunately, it’s going to cause a lot of women not being hired because men are worried that they’ll be attacked”.

differentnameforthis · 24/03/2019 12:06

Googling 'fbi michael jackson' doesn't constitute research and investigation. If you can't be arsed requesting the files from the FBI, they are linked at the bottom of this article

That article you linked to @Duster12 sets out very well that it was indeed TWO sets of investigations, with 10 years BETWEEN each one. There is NOTHING to suggest it was a 10yr investigation at all. It's really something to criticize "googling" when that is plainly all you did here. The FBI didn't investigate him, they aided police forces in their investigations, again VERY different.

The following is a paragraph from the link you posted artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/22/fbi-releases-files-on-michael-jackson/

The files, which were released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request made by several news media organizations, describe Mr. Jackson as “a celebrity pop star” and document how the bureau aided California law enforcement agencies when the singer was investigated for a child molestation case in 1993 [pdf] that never went to trial, and in a SECOND [my caps] such case from 2004 [pdf] in which Mr. Jackson was tried and acquitted. The files also describe ANOTHER [my caps] child molestation investigation conducted by the bureau in late 2004 [pdf] and closed when a witness, the file said, “advised the agents that he had no interest in testifying against” Mr. Jackson and “would legally fight any attempt to do so.”

Duster12 hasn't came back to the thread.
As somebody I knew used to say "they opened their mouth and let their belly rumble". Translation = talking s*e!
