Its not just the dm, sky news and the independent have the same quote. To say it didnt kill them is outrageous. Yes at the time they didnt realise it and were willing participants but they were children and he had groomed them. The toll on their MH must be immense which must, in turn affect their marriage and relationships with their own children. Who knows if they had been suicidal at any stage ?(JS in particular looked extremely broken) so to minimise and belittle their experiences is not only extremely damaging to them, but excusing abuse will only make it harder for other victims to report it.

hackmum · 23/03/2019 11:11

It certainly gives new meaning to the Streisand effect.

I notice that this story derives from an interview with Streisand in the Times. Yet the Times hasn't chosen to make very much of it. The interview is headed: "Barbra Streisand at 76: dog cloning, art collecting and being a grandma".

All the other outlets have picked up the Jackson angle and run with it.

Aeroflotgirl · 23/03/2019 11:11

BS just does not get it does she! I hope that she does not have children, I really do with that disgusting view.

SweetAsSpice · 23/03/2019 11:13
Sad
Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 23/03/2019 11:13

her opinion is unimportant tbh

Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 23/03/2019 11:13

i feel kind of sorry for her, and her life in a bubble

KrazyKatlady · 23/03/2019 11:17

On a separate note i was quite surprised that radio 2 (sorry 🙈) had Fleur East choosing songs on the Ken Bruce show on Friday and she was waxing lyrical about MJ and chose (and they played) one of his tracks.

NotTheFordType · 23/03/2019 11:18

Sorry who?

Duster12 · 23/03/2019 11:21

Christ there's some very self important people on here. The facts: he wasn't a paedophile, and actually, he was investigated by the FBI for ten years. He was found to be a victim of extortion and lies. Are you really believing that by watching trash documentaries and reading tabloid bollocks that this equals the level of investigation done by the FBI? Jesus wept.

KrazyKatlady · 23/03/2019 11:24

How is it a fact that he is not a paedophile???

Duster12 · 23/03/2019 11:26

So you believe your opinion holds more weight than the FBI who investigated him for ten years? Confused

KrazyKatlady · 23/03/2019 11:28

You know being found not guilty is not the same as being prove innocent? especially if you are billionaire with access to the best legal representation and have paid extortionate amounts of money to potential witnesses

JellyBeanScene · 23/03/2019 11:28

The fans keep claiming that there was a ten year investigation into the abuse allegations by the FBI and there wasn't. It's clearly stated on the FBI site that they only provided some assistance when requested to investigations led by California Law Enforcement agencies between 93-94 and separately between 2004-2005.

LemonRedwood · 23/03/2019 11:33

Share token for the original interview in the Times for those who want it. The MJ bit is towards the end.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 23/03/2019 11:37

@Duster12
Did you watch the "Leaving Neverland" Documentary?
Do you believe Jimmy Saville was a paedophile?

recrudescence · 23/03/2019 11:38

Streisland has totally lost the plot. This is the weirdest take on ‘Leaving Neverland’ that had been offered by anyone, anywhere.

nolongersurprised · 23/03/2019 11:41

The facts: he wasn't a paedophile

Then why did he act so much like one? Why did he hang out with young boys, put them on his knee and sleep with them in his bed?

IhateBoswell · 23/03/2019 11:43

Self important people

Better than a deluded fool 🙄

RuggyPeg · 23/03/2019 11:48

Brizzle - you don't mind being a misogynist then?

Dramatical · 23/03/2019 11:49

her opinion is unimportant tbh

It Is important when it's a huge name all over the media saying this though.

If it were bob round the corner I would roll my eyes and think he was a twat, but BS has a huge platform to perform.

Her opinion IS important because it is damaging to many.

Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 23/03/2019 11:50

Who is it damaging to?

recrudescence · 23/03/2019 11:50

People who still believe Jackson wasn’t a child abuser are choosing to live in a state of deliberate ignorance and delusion.

Treefloof · 23/03/2019 11:50

surprised this MJ business has taken so long to come out
Saville, Polanski, Harris et al.

The it didnt kill them comment, is she for real.
Does she have any empathy in her, does she in fact have a brain I wonder.
After a decade of abuse at the hands of my not rich mothers husband, and the passing of 40 years since it stopped, and children and marriage later, every single fucking day I think of suicide. So I am only not dead cos I didn't find the courage yet. Stupid fucking bitch.
If you couldn't tell this has riled me somewhat.

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/03/2019 11:52

Fact: the FBI have stated that they did not investigate Michael Jackson for 10 years.

I believe that some people like Barbara Streisand truly believe that if you have a great talent, like wot her and MJ and Romania Polanski had, you can pretty much do what you need to fulfill your needs. Cos Great Talent!
