AIBU to use a meal delivery company?

I'll be coming back from hospital after an operation. One arm is out of use totally after another op on the pins and plates very recently and I am so very tired! I miss yummy food as I'm having to work out ways of creating it one handed!

Feel so guilty doing so as seems such an expensive but I can afford it at the moment and really don't want to overdo it at the moment.

I don't like fish but most seem to have an option for this so I can tick a box :) low carb options are ideal and I

I don't have any recommendations, but of course you aren't being unreasonable.

Oakhouse meals aren’t too bad and many of them are quite pleasant. Prices for a single portion meal range from around £4:00-£6:50. They do a range of accompaniments and desserts too - also do soups, porridge’s and other snacks such as omelettes.

Wiltshire Farm Foods are like slop for the old - little flavour and small portions.

I would do an order from somewhere that sells decent ready meals such as Cook or M&S/Waitrose and get it delivered!!

Cook is great.

No recommendations for meal boxes but M+S have a great range of ready meals, my granddad uses them as he's 86 and can't stand for long, he says they're really tasty. I pick them up from my local store but know they deliver too.

We have a local delivery service called Meals 4 u, they deliver plated meals and puddings to people who aren't up to cooking for themselves, I think it's approx £5 for 2 courses. Not sure what areas they cover tho.

Depending on timescales it might be worth contacting your local social services and asking for their care directory which should have contact details for all local services including meal deliveries.

London has a lot of pre-prepared meal delivery services.

I’m working my way through a few to try and find one which is best for me & DS as I’m ill and really miss proper cooked food, and also nice salads which take an age to chop and then all the rest of the ingredients go limp in the fridge as no one wants to do it again!

Have tried Potage (good but freshness was an issue as they need eating at once so you can’t buy a weeks worth unless you just buy the ones ok to freeze).

Also used Spring Green for a few weeks, lovely daily deliveries, but very ‘healthy’ and grown up so ended up having to cook for DS anyway. I loved it if it was just for me though, lost some weight and felt all glowy!

And I’m using lots of Cook! Frozen food at the mo which is head and shoulders above any other frozen food shop.

I’m deciding which service to try next so will watch this thread for any recommendations myself...

I would just get a supermarket delivery and choose ready meals that you like. Do not order from companies like Mindful Chef as there are lots of chopping and prep involved which is obviously not what you need at the moment.

I think COOK would be quite good. Everything is frozen just pop in the oven

I 'third' Cook www.cookfood.net. As PPs have said, they're all frozen, so if you have a good sized freezer then you can stock up, and they go straight into the oven. Really nice and delicious too!
