AIBU to expect to be able to get my HRT and not have to stop taking due to “Out of Stock”?

HRT....out of stock. I’ve had three prescriptions in the past 3 weeks. Ive been all over and have finally managed to pick up a small number of tablets of the third but the pharmacist had none at the dose I’d been prescribed so I’m having to double up. He cannot be certain whether I will be able to pick up the rest from him in a fortnight.

Ellest Duet Conti and Premique OUT OF STOCK and only the smaller dose of Femoston available. I hate the idea of swapping and changing, as well.

Anyone know what’s going on?

Brexit is going on.

Gazelda · 22/03/2019 14:58

I've had the same. Been going on for months.
Have you been back to your GP? Mine prescribed something which apparently has identical ingredients. Been on it for 2 weeks now without any probs.

wigglypiggly · 22/03/2019 14:59

I had the same problem with premique, couldn't get my dose anywhere so had to have an alternative.

wigglypiggly · 22/03/2019 15:00

Mine was pre brexit

ineedaknittedhat · 22/03/2019 15:28

Manufacturing problems with drugs have been going on for ages now, so nothing to do with brexit.

MissKittyBeaudelais · 22/03/2019 19:07

Yes, went back to GP. Was prescribed the nearest thing to what I was originally on. That wasn’t available either. So had to go back and get a third option. It was the third one I’ve only got a third of the amount of tabs AND I’ll go through them quickly, as I have to double the dose (MY dose not being available 😡😡😡

Nothing to do with Brexit which is slowly becoming the convenient excuse for every sub optimal performance of anything within the UK.

My local Asda ran out of ironing water yesterday. Fucking BREXIT!

FrowningFlamingo · 22/03/2019 19:23

It's nothing to do with Brexit. HRT has had supply issues for years. Really frustrating.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 22/03/2019 19:25

I’ve had loads of problems with medication shortages.

The worst one is an anti histamine eye drop medication. I have never been able to get this since October, and there is no alternative. My eyes itch like fuck small the tine

AwakeAfterMidnight · 22/03/2019 19:32

This may help - we have major issues with medicines supplies at the moment:

I phoned Mylan last week for a patient and the have no dates available. This will show you what is available:

I've had the eye drop problem as well emoji.
Also locorten ear drops, the only thing that calms my itchy ears.

MissKittyBeaudelais · 23/03/2019 12:38

I’m looking at “natural ways” to come off it. However, it seems there’s side effects with even that stuff!

Yeah, this issue has been going on for nearly a year. I had to have an emergency hysterectomy last May and one of the worst parts of it, genuinely, was being unable to get hold of HRT. I’m on premarin and have had difficulty with every prescription since. Having a meeting with the GP this Monday to try and find something that’s reliable but I gather that it’s an ingredient in most HRT medication, so the problem affects most of the types. Anyway, I feel you. Flowers

TapasForTwo · 23/03/2019 16:53

I can't get hold of my regular migraine medication either.

cricketballs3 · 23/03/2019 17:05

Bollocks to the usual "it's Brexit" response.

There has been manufacturing issues for a while, my prescription of HRT (Tridestra) a few months ago meant I was calling chemists all day until I found one with any in stock. The next prescription was fine, but I am due another chemist run...

ElBandito · 23/03/2019 17:30

I’m in the same position. It’s nothing to do with Brexit.
