To think I should get teen DS to watch 'Porn Laid Bare'

I think like most parents I am seriously concerned about the impact that porn has on the way our DC's perceive and expect sex to be and I am realistic about the fact that teenagers will access porn, at least to some degree, no matter if we try to stop them.

I have watched a bit of 'Porn Laid Bare' on the BBC, it gives an insight into the industry and the real people involved. I think maybe it would help DS understand what I have told him, that porn isn't real, any more than stuff you see in other films is real..there's nothing explicit in there (obvs, its the BBC!) but there is nudity and the discussions are quite frank!

DS is 13(y9), AIBU in thinking I might tell him to watch it? I don't think he is watching any actual porn himself yet but he has told me that some of his friends are, so it is obviously discussed amongst them. I'd like to think he might approach it with a different mindset having seen the documentary?

Sounds sensible and responsible to me.

If I had a teenager I'd definitely insist they watch it. You are very sensible.
