To ask why is Mumsnet so addictive?

Just that really!
Curious to consider and contemplate this with fellow Mumsnetters after I viewed my screen time report
So AIBU to believe that Mumsnet is highly addictive and if so, why?!

In my case, cos there’s loads of opinions/situations on here that you’d never get to see in real life. So it’s like binge watching a good Netflix series that never ends, but one you can interact with 😂😂😂

The amount of times I've deleted this app and re downloaded it not even hours later just makes me so mad

Firstly healthy debate is becoming a rarity elsewhere and secondly because it's where problems are solved and who doesn't want a bit of that?

Also if you are anything like the rest of us that screen may be open but you are probably off doing a million other things and just checking in on threads that are relevant from time to time so probably not an accurate time portrayal.

Oh no..... I’ve just realised that I only ever use the site via the web browser and may now have to download the app.....

I don't know the answer, but admit I am slightly addicted lately.

Mumsnet is like being able to sit in a cafe and shoot the breeze all day whilst still managing to get things done alongside and not having to remember to eat with your mouth shut.

What's not to like about a group of instant friends that are there on demand but you can put them down when the toddler/work/washing calls?

I think it’s the privacy of being able to reply to people that don’t know you, it’s easier to share with a stranger and get unbiased opinions. Also agreed it is highly addictive, I only joined last year and I barely look at my Facebook now. Intriguing what goes on in other people’s lives, almost like sitting in the other side of a confessional box.

Its like being at a fab big party and being able to amble about, choosing which conversations you want to join in. Its socialising on a grand scale.

I’d never thought of it these ways, I’m an ex party girl / socialiser who now never goes out partying so maybe this is my way of doing it?
But I can see likewise for shy / introverted people it would also overcome that for them too...

It's funnier than the tv most of the time!

The tiny details of other peoples' lives are fascinating.

I'm introverted & I like that I can dip in & out of threads without any demands being made of me. I can be sociable or be a lurker wallflower, whatever I feel like at the time. It is addictive though - I pop in a few times a day to see what's going on & get very fed up if I've missed a bunfight

It's a group of mainly intelligent women with vastly different opinions, robustly discussing the topics of the day, largely away from the male gaze.

I know why I find it addictive

I'm housebound and don't see many people,

I'm a formerly outgoing, chatty, politically engaged, interested in many subjects that relate to the human condition with a few I'm specifically interested and educated in, educated, I hope articulate person.

Mn really helps my anxiety especially when I can't sleep and stops my brain atrophying I hope!

It's the drama.
Not really for me I am fascinated by people.

You never feel alone on Mumsnet, there will always be someone just like you, share your opinions, or give you the other side to a situation that you may not have thought of. Great for information and being able to voice an opinion that I want to in real life but am reluctant to do sometimes. You can be moved to tears or laugh your head off, brilliant

Graphista Your can tell you are all of those things. Your posts are always interesting, intelligent and helpful.
I love it as I learnt very little in school, I didn't even know basic SPAG, never mind resilience or critical thinking, now I am up to date on all the latest info from the fabulous Mnetters, I see and deal with things better.
I still have lots to learn, but I have learnt lots here.
I like certain posters posts.
I kinda like some drama too.
