To ask which dairy-free milk is nicest in coffee?

Hoping for some serious inspiration🙈 I have been told I am intolerant to dairy and need to go cold turkey on all dairy products. I've managed 3 days so far but I really struggle with black coffee - and I looove my coffee. Could anybody suggest an alternative to cows milk to put in coffee please? 🤞🏻☕️

Oatly barista for hot drinks.
Coconut milk for porridge.

AvocadoLovingMamaOfOne · 21/03/2019 20:13

Oatly barista or soya professional from Amazon would be my 2 favourites. Coconut milk is lovely if you're doing an iced coffee.

MrsMaryMooFace · 21/03/2019 20:58

I loved Oatly until I realised it had gluten 8n it. Now I'm fully cashew obsessed Grin (can't have soya for hormonal reasons)

AnotherEmma · 21/03/2019 21:26

I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet so I'm going to recommend... Oatly Barista Grin
Oatly cream and crème fraîche are good too.

Almond Dream and Alpro Hazelnut Chocolate are the best dairy-free ice creams (I've tried a few Grin)

Nush almond milk yoghurts are lovely. Nush also do cream cheese.

I haven't found dairy-free cheese or milk chocolate that I like, but DF cake is easy, just use DF margarine instead of butter.

Deffo oatly barrista

Onynx · 22/03/2019 11:17

I'm back!! And I am so happy! Who do I hug??? The Oatly Barista is fab, lovely and creamy but not too creamy. No nasty aftertaste. I haven't tried frothing it yet but I'm going to stock up! Now if I could just find a decent cheese substitute.....

Are you lactose intolerant? Apparently some lactose-free cheese isn't too bad. Dairy-free cheese is, though!

Frazzlerock · 22/03/2019 11:51

Oatly Barista was my go to but it is nearly impossible to get hold of.

However they now have a fresh version in 'skimmed' and 'semi' and 'full fat'. I've tried all of them and they work just as well as the Barista version but not hard to get hold of. I use the skinny one as I was putting on weight with the Barista and 'full fat' fresh versions. It is delicious!

AnotherEmma · 22/03/2019 11:52

I get Oatly Barista from Ocado, you can also find it in big Tescos and health food shops.

RoboticSealpup · 22/03/2019 11:53

Oatmilk is yum.

LeesPostersAreInFrames · 22/03/2019 11:54

So glad you found oatly barista, it is wonderful!

As a gluten free idiot who didn't realise it wasn't, I'm back to square one.

ProfessionalBarren · 22/03/2019 15:38

Hurrah, great update OP - enjoy your dairy free hot beverages GrinBrew

Hahaha88 · 22/03/2019 15:48

I love oatley barista in my tea. Alpro do an oatley professional one which is good but I've never seen it in shops only where I work who get it from a catering company. I currently have alpro oat milk (normal one) which is also nice but not as nice.
I will have almond or soya in my tea too but I admit it's not as nice as oatley barista tho I can get a carton for £1 instead of the £1.80 oatley barista costs me 😭

weekendsleep · 22/03/2019 15:51

Koko brand coconut milk is delicious in coffee (the normal version not the unsweetened or super milk version).

AnotherEmma · 22/03/2019 15:55

Oh I've heard that Asda oat milk is almost as good as Oatly Barista and significantly cheaper.

EduCated · 22/03/2019 16:01

Yay! Came on to say Oatly Barista, glad I was a) beaten to it and b) that you liked it Grin

We’ve not had too many problems getting it - always stocked in our local Tesco in the long life bit. I try to stick up when it’s on offer.

Elephantina · 22/03/2019 16:03

I'm confused now, so many suggestions. I would like to go lower carb and enjoy the odd latte when on Slimming World, so looking for an alternative to cows milk from that perspective.

However. I have galloping IBS, and a handful of cashews certainly sends me rushing for the throne so I daren't try cashew milk. Coconut milk had a similar effect.

Since we're on the topic, has anyone following a low fodmap, anti-IBS diet had any luck with dairy alternatives?

Creamwhite · 22/03/2019 16:07

Unsweetened soy

JellyBaby666 · 22/03/2019 16:13

Just to say Innocent Hazelnut milk is divine in coffee! (You do have to give it a stir if you leave it to sit for a bit)

User12879923378 · 22/03/2019 16:32

Another dairy drinker who genuinely enjoys oat milk in lattes

IfeellikeaJoan · 22/03/2019 17:04

Provitamil oat milk is amazing! If I can't get it for any reason then I use Oatly barista, they are very similar, both very creamy with no curdling.

I'm not vegan or dairy-free but I would never go back to milk in my coffee after trying these, they taste so much better!

IfeellikeaJoan · 22/03/2019 17:05

Oh, and Asda often have Provitamil on 3 for £3 in Asda, so it's good for stocking up.
