To ask which dairy-free milk is nicest in coffee?

Hoping for some serious inspiration🙈 I have been told I am intolerant to dairy and need to go cold turkey on all dairy products. I've managed 3 days so far but I really struggle with black coffee - and I looove my coffee. Could anybody suggest an alternative to cows milk to put in coffee please? 🤞🏻☕️

Almond milk. The sweetened one; unsweetened tends to curdle. If you're feeling really experimental, get chocolate almond milk.

Another vote for Oatly Barista! In another league to others IMO. Normally in stock on Ocado.

MothershipG · 21/03/2019 19:10

I use unsweetened almond milk because I am low carbing but I make my coffee weaker as it is less sweet than dairy milk so doesn't offset the bitterness in the same way.

There is also a barista almond milk but I haven't tried it, it's more expensive and higher in carbs.

A nut milk, warmed and frothed with one of those little battery powered frothers. Or if you can get hold if it Mylk which is a blend of different milks but again needs to be warmed/frothed or it goes a bit splitty.

Giraffeski · 21/03/2019 19:23

I like unsweetened almond milk.

NChangeForNoReason · 21/03/2019 19:27

Sweetened almond every time!!!

HundredMilesAnHour · 21/03/2019 19:28

I work with a lot of vegans so the 'milk' provided at work is sweetened soya milk (for tea or coffee). I avoided it at first and just did without hot drinks but eventually I have been converted to a splash of sweetened soya milk in my tea. It's never curdled and tastes just fine. (I haven't tried it in coffee though as I won't drink instant and that's all that's available at work). We're a charity so needs to keep costs down - the milk is Sainsbury's own brand long life sweetened soya milk.

Waveysnail · 21/03/2019 19:33

Not all soya milks are equal. I prefer alpro unsweetened fridge one not the long life one.

Waveysnail · 21/03/2019 19:34

Oatly cream substitute and their creme fraiche is great

Waveysnail · 21/03/2019 19:34

Not in coffee though Grin

QueenOfIce · 21/03/2019 19:38

Black with honey

AureliaJane · 21/03/2019 19:45

Oat milk is far and away my favourite!

DerbyRacer · 21/03/2019 19:45

Glad you are going to try Oatly Barista. I love it and don't buy anything else. It is the only one that I like in coffee. I even prefer it to cow's milk now.

storminateecup · 21/03/2019 19:46

Hot oat milk for me

teta · 21/03/2019 19:49

Kook coconut for long life milk or Soya light Alpro in the fresh milk section.

teta · 21/03/2019 19:50

Koko not kook🤦🏼‍♀️

caffeinequick · 21/03/2019 19:51

Oat milk batista edition (I think it's in a grey carton) is lovely, doesn't separate and froths nicely if you want a latte.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 21/03/2019 19:52

Oatly, oatly barista if you can get it. I like almond milk on cereal and to drink but not in coffee. Hazelnut milk is good in coffee too if you like a slightly nutty taste (I love a hazelnut latte). I don't think any non dairy milk is nice in tea, I'd rather drink it black

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 21/03/2019 19:58

Oat milk is my fav. It tastes like if you drink the last bit of milk from your cereal. I found it taste the creamiest compared to the others.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 21/03/2019 20:00

Tiger nut milk - hands down winner. Can be difficult to find though.

Sciurus83 · 21/03/2019 20:01

There is only Oatly Barista, all others pale into insignificance

Onynx · 21/03/2019 20:01

I'll buy the Oatly in the morning and report back pronto☕️

Try making Yorkshire pudding with it too, so lovely and crispy.

Magissa · 21/03/2019 20:04

I like hazlenut or cashew best. Hazlenut does have a distinctive taste but it goes well with coffee. Cashew is great in tea or on cereal etc. I like Innocent or Plenish nut milks as they have the simplest ingredients.

KittyMarrion · 21/03/2019 20:09

Oatly Barista in coffee and tea. Most places sell it although it is popular.
