To ask which dairy-free milk is nicest in coffee?

Hoping for some serious inspiration🙈 I have been told I am intolerant to dairy and need to go cold turkey on all dairy products. I've managed 3 days so far but I really struggle with black coffee - and I looove my coffee. Could anybody suggest an alternative to cows milk to put in coffee please? 🤞🏻☕️

Another vote for Oatly Barista.

Cashew milk is lovely too. It's creamy and has quite a mild taste.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 21/03/2019 18:11

Oatly barista is the best IMO.

soberfabulous · 21/03/2019 18:13

Watching with interest! I'd like to go vegan so for the last month have tried them all.

All vile.

Coconut is the only one I can half way stomach and it almost froths when I do lattes in the coffee machine.

I thought oatly was going to be my saviour but I hated that too.

Do please report back, OP!

Mustbetimeforachange · 21/03/2019 18:18

Oatly barista but sometimes hard to get. I like almond milk for porridge.

3boysandabump · 21/03/2019 18:20

Oatly barista is amazing. I've had to give up dairy until my youngest has finished breastfeeding as he has an allergy and I don't think I'll change back to cows milk for coffee.

lalasmum11 · 21/03/2019 18:21

Cashew or Oat, the rest are rotten

Disfordarkchocolate · 21/03/2019 18:24

We may have a small stockpile of Oatly barista, always by 3 at a time.

Mortgages · 21/03/2019 18:29

I love them all
But my favourites are hazelnut and cashew hands down.
Especially hazelnut with warm porridge oats topped with dried fruit and dash of algae nectar- heaven!

Mortgages · 21/03/2019 18:29

Sorry agave nectar!

hazeyjane · 21/03/2019 18:31

I personally prefer the sweetened alpro soya milk to Oatly barista. I like it hot and frothed then topped up with double Espresso

JellyBeanScene · 21/03/2019 18:34

If you use soya milk do you have to add more of it than you would cows milk? I tried some in coffee yesterday and I wasn't really impressed. It had a slightly oily and bitter flavour and tasted more like black coffee. Perhaps I didn't add enough?

whiteroseredrose · 21/03/2019 18:35

I like Oatly semi skimmed and Alpro soya light.

Felicia4 · 21/03/2019 18:37

I like almond. Cashew is a bit more creamy, lovely in coffee, not so much tea.

QueenOfTheTofuTree · 21/03/2019 18:38

Oat milk.

I prefer alpro to oatly though.

TooLateToDrinkCoffee · 21/03/2019 18:42

Oat milk gets my vote as well. Nice taste and best for the environment. Oatley barrista version and Rude are both good versions with coffee.

BlueJava · 21/03/2019 18:42

Personally I prefer almond. But you have to experiment with brands as the same milk in different brands can be different - e.g. soya milk in one brand will curdle, another won't (according to my son who is lactose intolerant).

Spanglemum · 21/03/2019 18:43

Oatly Barista is the best but soya ok. Some instant coffees do curdle plant milks. My husband has been vegan since the dawn of time. I've tried most of them and hate drinking cows milk now .

grumiosmum · 21/03/2019 18:45

Another vote for Oatly Barista.

NannyR · 21/03/2019 18:45

I like hazelnut milk in coffee occasionally as I think the hazelnut flavour goes really well with coffee. I've trained myself to enjoy it black as I haven't found a milk that works like dairy milk in hot drinks.
I drink and cook with either alpro unsweetened soya or oatly semi (both fresh rather than the uht version), personally I don't like the oatly barista - I find it has a bit of an oily aftertaste.

Mmmhmmokdear · 21/03/2019 18:48

I like Almond Breeze almond milk, not the unsweetened one though, you need the normal one with a green band on the top of the carton. The other almond milks went all thin and weird.

Misnomer · 21/03/2019 18:49

Hazelnut is really good in coffee. As BlueJava said, you do have to experiment a bit with different brands as well as different types on milk.

Cab1nfever · 21/03/2019 18:51

Oatly Barista wins for me. Good for making porridge with as well.

KnittingSister · 21/03/2019 18:53

Oatly!

ProfessionalBarren · 21/03/2019 18:55

I’m tragically overinvested in this thread now and really want to know if the OP likes the Oatly barista Blush

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 21/03/2019 18:57

Yet another vote for Oatly barista! As time has gone by though and my palate has adjusted I find I can cope with most. Unsweetened soya also fine now (was gross at first) and I was pleasantly surprised by Koko Super. I've cut dairy out for a CMPI baby and although I'll probably relax a bit when she weans I think I'll stay mainly dairy free - cows milk in coffee won't be one of the things I go back to.

I like hemp milk as a drink itself but not in coffee. Almond fine for pancakes or porridge but again not in coffee.
