Son’s Smelly Feet - Help!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm · 20/03/2019 20:53

Posting here for traffic.

My sons feet stink. THis situation has been going on for years, and isn’t really improving. We’ve bought all manner of things to try and help, but he has always been a “sweaty” child and his feet just pong! Have tried odour eaters, cedar insoles, sprays, creams, hibiscrub, lotions/potions from the pharmacist. He showers twice a day. Please tell me there is a magic cure. He’s starting to get annoyed at my moaning, which doesn’t help.

I found that using Pitrok natural deodorant worked for me when I wear shoes without socks. No smell at all.

Could it be pitted keratolysis?
www.dermnetnz.org/topics/pitted-keratolysis/
if so antibiotic creams may help.

Northernparent68 · 20/03/2019 21:18

Tea tree oil is said to help

Samind · 20/03/2019 21:21

Do his shoes smell?

Teanocoffee · 20/03/2019 21:21

I kid you not, both my bro and and dad had horrific feet until they soaked their feet in a bowl of their own urine. Their feet no longer smell

Moominmagic · 20/03/2019 21:24

Does he wear decent socks? Cotton not nylon.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 20/03/2019 21:32

Does he wear the same shoes every day? Trainers?

It takes 3 days for a shoe to fully dry from a sweaty foot. Wearing leather shoes and resting them two days between use might help, although expensive.

mamangelo · 20/03/2019 21:33

Ooooooh to the urine suggestion. My ten pennies worth is get some surgical spirit and apply this to his feet each night with cotton wool.

The smell is coming from bacteria so if the surgical spirit and urine bath don’t work some antibiotic cream to kill the bacteria is in order.

Good luck!

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 20/03/2019 21:35

Urine??? I’d wee on my husband’s feet myself if it got rid. He’s definitely got that pitted thing Envy

wowfudge · 20/03/2019 21:36

Soak them in a solution of potassium permanganate.

BMW6 · 20/03/2019 21:36

He needs to change his shoes much more often - is he wearing the same pair days in a row?

Ambi · 20/03/2019 21:38

Surgical spirit is great at removing the pong from feet.

endofthelinefinally · 20/03/2019 21:39

Athletes foot powder. On his feet and in his shoes. Cotton socks and a hot wash.
It is likely he has a chronic fungal infection. There is no smell like it.

Bamboo are even better, if you can get them.

LucyInTheSkyy · 20/03/2019 21:51

Bath feet in a bowl of bicarbonate of soda and a squirt of lemon juice. Kills of the nasty niffs.
Going forwards, bicarb all shoes, soak all socks in bicarb before washing (no softener) and air feet at home wherever possible after the foot wash process.

HankyPanky04 · 20/03/2019 21:53

My son had super smelly feet. Turns out he had an ingrowing toenail!🙈

tinyme77 · 20/03/2019 21:53

Athlete's foot cream

faw2009 · 21/03/2019 10:08

If it's athlete's foot, then treat with cream / powder. And he can also massage his feet daily with coconut oil to prevent recurrences (pop socks on after to prevent oily floors).
