To be surprised at people who say they get drunk on 1 small glass of wine?

Just that really. Even when I was a teenager and had a drink about once a year, 1 small glass of wine had no effect on me.

I can drink several G&Ts and feel a little bit tipsy but wide awake and can enjoy myself.

One measure of wine, or a small glass and I feel absolutely drunk and want to lie down and go to sleep. It annoys me as I used to really enjoy a glass or two of wine. When I hit 40 I had to give it up. I’ve tried organic wine and very expensive wine and i still feel pissed very quickly.

i don't get drunk drunk but i do get tipsy!

I don't get it at all. But I have a very high tolerance for alcohol. I can do a bottle of wine and still be perfectly fine, not even tipsy. Spirits I can drink more than that. I can drink doubles all night and be fine.
I don't get drunk and I've never not been able to remember what's happened. Even after drinking until 6am at parties, I still remember every single thing that happened.

I love a nice G & T but alcohol doesn't love me. I feel so horrid the next day - crabby and irritable, and can be a bit "raging bull" as DH calls it. Takes a good 24 hours to clear my system.

I just don't bother, it's never worth it.

I dont have a stomach. I can get smashed on a measure of vodka in a glass of lemonade. I feel it after a few sips. Sugar can also have the same affect.

Interesting that wine affects people more than other drinks, I'm the sameish, mine is more that wine gives me heartburn so I tend to avoid it.

I used to drink heavily as a student, could hold my drinks, rarely threw up or needed looking after etc.

Now I rarely drink it definitely affects me strongly and immediately. I no longer have a single drink with a meal then drive a few hours later, as I used to, because I can feel it affecting me. My body is just not used to handling alcohol any more.

Bluntness yes perhaps that is the issue - I wouldn't define drunk as anywhere near what you described - to me that would be more than drunk and would require a qualifying adjective. Really drunk, blind drunk, etc.

Drunk to me is being silly, overconfident, loud, a bit clumsy etc.

I've never been so drunk I've lost my memory though, always felt that one was a bit of a myth. The only time I've experienced memory blanks is when I (once) took cocaine and it scared the shit out of me so I never touched it again.
