So first time in aibu. Out this evening, meal with family, waiting in taxi rank to go home, 2 men who I had previously seen in a pub causing problems. One man is stood weeing against the wall of a bank. I am no prude but that is disgusting. They were then really rude to me and insulting. Am I right for having a go? my husband basically told me to shut up in the taxi and I should let it go?? I don't agree...

Please let’s not kid ourselves that it's just a man thing.

My friend who runs a restaurant regularly encounters women squatting in the yard. Every single weekend night he has to clean and disinfect before he goes home because the area where fresh deliveries are left the next morning are covered in pee and poo.

longwayoff · 17/03/2019 08:53

Is there something wrong with you? Yes disgusting but you start an argument with a drunk? Nice to put your husband in that situation.

Bluetrews25 · 17/03/2019 08:55

Dogs and toddlers only do small volumes.
An adult bladder can hold, what?, 500-650ml?
That is a lot of very stinky wee.
Bleurgh.
Good on police officers for giving them a hard time.

Sonicknuckles · 17/03/2019 08:57

I once had a go at a man doing the exact same thing during the day against the wall of my mothers care home.

slipperywhensparticus · 17/03/2019 08:58

Loving how your putting "your husband" in that position why? Do men really need to use there fists in response to a woman using her mouth? Why do we assume men pissing like animals on the street will have no self control 🙄

TroysMammy · 17/03/2019 09:02

It's got nothing to do with the lack of public toilets. Years ago when I used to go out "into town" you would see men walk out of a pub and head for the nearest wall for a piss. Why on earth couldn't they have used the toilet in the pub they had just left? Obviously women are more organised in the bladder department.

kaytee87 · 17/03/2019 09:07

@slipperywhensparticus op had stated the men were causing problems in the pub earlier that night.

DointItForTheKids · 17/03/2019 09:07

@hellenbackagen

Why would you doing your job and applying the appropriate fine mean that you're being 'a complete bitch'?

CherryPavlova · 17/03/2019 09:08

It’s revolting but there is a gender issue with public lavatories not being widely available- although women and children can be caught short too. Even where there are lavatories, they are often locked shut about 6pm.
Men tend to drink larger volumes but they also (over a certain age) frequently suffer with prostatitis. It means they find bladder control difficult and develop frequency. Most men manage not to urinate in shop doorways but it isn’t always easy.
That said drunk younger men have always used walls and alleyways and it’s always been disgusting.

longwayoff · 17/03/2019 09:08

Er, because pissing in the street indicates that self control has already slipped down the list of essential things.

formerbabe · 17/03/2019 09:13

That's nothing. Many years ago I came out of a bar in croydon London and this guy just stood right outside on the pavement having a piss...not against a wall or anything, literally just in a crowd of people straight onto the pavement...never seen people look so disgusted or move so fast.

JaneEyre07 · 17/03/2019 09:19

When we lived in town, we had an alley down the side of our house and the next. Unfortunately we were opposite a bit of a rough pub, and our alleyway seemed to be the communal toilet. I'll never forget coming home one night and finding a man peeing against our back gate tucked to one side... I was terrified and had to walk through his piss. I cried and cried when I got upstairs and begged DH to do something, but our NDN was a right PITA and wouldn't agree to a gate. In the end I took to leaving our kitchen window open so you could hear them and tipped a washing up bowl of water out of the window all over them. It was very satisfying!! I was so relieved (excuse the pun) when we moved. Men are just vile and it's not about public toilets, there were toilets in the bloody pub!!

hellenbackagen · 17/03/2019 09:20

I get that sometimes people get caught short.

If they go somewhere discrete and out of the way - ok
If they openly and drunkenly wee anywhere they get told off! No one wants to see that! Had a bloke other week stand right outside a pub on a main road peeing into a hedge. Young lass then fell into it 😱 they can be given a ticket.
I do public order on Friday and Saturday night
And I don't go to town in their arse for those concerned....😳😉

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 17/03/2019 09:21

".. I was terrified and had to walk through his piss. I cried and cried when I got upstairs and begged DH to do something, "

Just a bit dramatic...

bullyingadvice2017 · 17/03/2019 09:28

It's dirty. But what has having a go achieved? I'm willing to bet they had a right laugh about it and are in no way gonna be sat this morning thinking , hmm that woman had a point last night and I won't be seeing in public again as it's dirty and I'm ashamed of myself.

So all you have achieved is winding yourself up. And possibly putting yourself in danger.
My husband would not have been happy with that as what if trouble starts. Likely he would have been hit or had to fight back.

ScreamingValenta · 17/03/2019 09:30

I have to say your language and attitude for a police officer or indeed a female is absolutely unacceptable

What's this - are women not allowed to swear now? Confused

Mishappening · 17/03/2019 09:33

The man was out of order - but I agree with your OH - not wise to confront a drunken man who has already caused trouble in the pub. Do you usually grab tigers by the tail!?

Wildcate · 17/03/2019 09:35

If they were spoiling for a fight, its your husband they would have had a go at. He might be reacting to that.

Absolutely this.

Loving how your putting "your husband" in that position why? Do men really need to use there fists in response to a woman using her mouth? Why do we assume men pissing like animals on the street will have no self control 🙄

Of course they don’t really need to 🙄🙄🙄 but many do.

@twittoo have you actually asked your DH why he reacted in the way he did, i.e. whether it was because he didn’t think what the blokes were doing was so bad, or whether it’s because he feared consequences from your reaction?
