...to absolutely despise the use of Snapchat filters on babies?!

Just that really. Hate Snapchat filters as it is but drives me mad when I see photos of babies with them on! They are cute enough already!

I hate snapchat filters fill stop!

Isadora2007 · 15/03/2019 22:30

They’re horribly overused anyway but yeah in babies they’re ridiculous. Though I did amuse myself and my baby grandchild making him into a bunny, elvis, a scary zombie and a Mardi Gras skeleton the other day... he was fascinated!!! Oh and we were also both bunnies... so it was fun.

GrubbyHipsterBeard · 15/03/2019 22:34

Provided it’s not a sexualised filter, it’s a harmless bit of fun

SosigisAndCornflourSauce · 15/03/2019 22:36

Ridiculous and fucking sinister if you ask me!

lyralalala · 15/03/2019 22:37

Totally!

Someone I know had a baby recently and I’ve not seen a single pic of the baby without a filter so far.

capaciousbladder · 15/03/2019 22:40

I hate it. Fake eyelashes and lipstick? Sexualising much????
Animal ears and noses? WTF is wrong with you people????

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 15/03/2019 22:43

Agree!! Babies are beautiful and need no filters. It takes away in my opinion.

PinkieTuscadero · 15/03/2019 22:45

Not all babies are cute. They need all the help Snapchat can give.

raeray · 15/03/2019 22:58

I also hate snapchat filters - especially on babies! No it does no one any harm but they do irritate me for some reason.

drinkygin · 15/03/2019 23:00

They’re hilarious. The ones with the googlyeyes or the beards? Come on. Lighten up.

AuntMarch · 15/03/2019 23:00

You are absolutely not being unreasonable.

I hate too many photos of babies all of social media full stop, but especially the filtered ones.

They make you look like a bellend anyway.

Pinkiii · 15/03/2019 23:02

I find some funny/cute on babies.

What I do hate is people (mainly over30) who use the filters and then use those pics for the social media profiles, the older you are the more cringe it is.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 15/03/2019 23:03

I spent hours on maternity leave making my DC into various animals, old people, goths etc. I never shared them but they did amuse me.

MeredithGrey1 · 15/03/2019 23:26

Ridiculous and fucking sinister if you ask me!

Sinister? I guess you mean the filters that make you look more “attractive”, in which case I’d probably agree. But I don’t think there’s anything particularly sinister about giving a baby a silly moustache or something.

bullyingadvice2017 · 15/03/2019 23:31

I lose a tiny bit or respect for people over 16 that use them. Any pics of kids on social media is too many.

Schuyler · 15/03/2019 23:34

What a non issue. I don’t really use snapchat but small children often like seeing their faces with animal noses or ears.

Excited101 · 15/03/2019 23:36

I agree, it’s totally freaky!

LordPickle · 15/03/2019 23:44

When I read threads like this, I wonder why I bother with MN at all.

Who cares if someone uses filters on babies? Who cares if children trick or treat? Who cares if someone gives their child a biscuit after school?

The amount of uptight snobbery on here is ridiculous. Is this really what bothers you? Get a life. Get off the internet and go outside. Stop being so judgemental.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 15/03/2019 23:48

My 2 year old finds them hilarious. His favourite is than one that gives him a beard like his grandad. We don't post them on Facebook but we do share them on the family messenger group.

I think people need to lighten up.

Wingingitsince2018 · 16/03/2019 00:36

Not sure how you jumped to the conclusion that I was being judgemental @LordPickle. I dislike it because it just irks me, which is a bit unreasonable (anyone who posts on AIBU about things like this really knows they are being a bit unreasonable/irrational as there is no reason for it, it's just a feeling). I absolutely did not say 'i dislike people using Snapchat filters on babies because it makes them seem insert negative comment here' therefore it was not said in judgement.

I can see how it can be fun for older children as it is entertaining, but I am talking about babies who have no concept of what is happening.

I despise all snapchat filters. And Snapchat. But then again I am a bit of a miserable cow Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/03/2019 01:30

YA ALL BU for using Snapchat... unless you are like 13.

Discobabe98 · 16/03/2019 01:39

I don’t think they’re sinister etc but yeah it really annoys me when there’s a filter on every single pic some people share of their baby (two of my friends do this) as a) you can’t see their cute face at all/ the filter distorts and affects them so it may as well be anyone’s child b) it just looks stupid that you’ve chosen to put a filter on a baby and c) i always think when these people go to print pictures of their child for albums or even look back on old pics, they’ll have lashes/ lipstick/ bear ears/ glasses/ a cartoon hair bow in every pic and the colouring will be pink Shock

Probably not an issue to them obviously but I’d definitely want original untouched pics of my baby

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 16/03/2019 01:47

I personally find it utterly cringe worthy when grown women use it, seriously makes me shudder with embarrassment for them.

Totally agree with you about using it on babies too. Their eyes are big enough, their skin is smooth enough and their noses are cute enough already! I do think it's worrying because to me it's sending a message that the way they look isn't good enough even while they're a tiny baby.
