To not want to buy more school uniform?

When DD goes on study leave in May and it's mid March and they leave fully in June?
Stuff if getting marked by pen and whatever . Some of it is starting to get a bit small. Another boys shoes have gone and school are demanding new shoes. I know he could just get a cheap pair.

Argh what do you do with only a few weeks to go and a need of uniform which costs a fortune?

None big enough in second hand and no one to pass them on to. I know I'm being a miser and I will have to buy it but I've for £90 of kit to buy for her college course which she needs more.

Slightly off topic but are you sure she will get study leave? I though most schools had done away with it.

I'd buy it but yanbu, if you can't afford it you can't afford it.

I wouldn’t replace any uniform now that has pen on or is a bit small, but would absolutely buy new school shoes!

They’ll have to wear the shoes until the end of the exams (mid June?) which is quite a way off-I’d just buy them with plenty of room.

They definitely did last year Ice and one of the teachers has been threatening to make them come in all day during study leave just to study for his subject because he's not happy some of them aren't getting the grade he wants so I presume so!

Yes, I would check re study leave. DD didn't get GCSE study leave until the third week of her exams.

My daughter's school gives study leave. They got rid of it for a year and then brought it back after a huge backlash from parents and students. They still run topic sessions during this time which students are welcome to attend but they're not compulsory. It works well.

YANBU, but if it’s shirts That are getting small, for comfort and dignity I’d spend a tenner on a pack of shirts.
For the child needing shoes, I don’t understand why you don’t buy shoes when they’re needed-ok so they won’t wear them over the summer holidays, but that’s only 6/7 weeks so they’ should still fit and it will save you lashing out for shoes then

For those querying study leave, it’s still very much a thing where I am in Scotland, amd I suspect given that OP mentions May as being study leave, she may be in Scotland too

I don’t think you’re being unreasonable. I’ve told my y6 DD she won’t be getting any new uniform now. I’ll admit her winter skirts and trousers are getting a bit short, but after Easter she’ll be wearing summer uniform anyway, her secondary school uniform is going to be expensive so she can put up with it for a few more weeks. The exception is shoes, I can’t expect her to cram her feet into too small shoes.

Her shoes are fine but she is growing like crazy at the moment!

It's just it's all damn logo'd
so even a couple of skirts and tops will cost not far off the college kit cost sigh.

Sympathies OP. We have logo kit too, and it's compulsory to have the logo on show at all times. I've just shelled out 50 quid for new jumpers, but thankfully little brother will benefit from them. Shoes are non negotiable for us - we buy them as needed. School don't care what they wear though, so that's a mercy. I can buy Vans or similar and they'll be worn anyway.
Study leave is still a thing in Scotland, and it starts in May.
No real wisdom, just sympathies!
