To think I need help

I'm running my own business from home and I'm getting way behind with the housework

I'm not a very organised person at all. My cupboards are full of shit, my kitchen cupboards are disorganised and messy, I've got tools and paint tins stacked up in corners, boxes and boxes and piles and piles of paperwork that's not organised, mountains of washing that's clean that I haven't put away, I'm always behind on the dishwasher, I haven't washed my windows since Dec 2017, I've got corners of junk and boxes of junk.

I feel like I could do with some help but I've never been in a position to pay for a cleaner before and now that I am I don't know if cleaners would even help deal with this stuff.

Aibu to think I need help and wonder if there's a cleaner out there who would be willing to help me?

I'm sure there is. Most things can be done if money's involved. You won't find one on here though. Try Facebook Sales.

beansontoastfortea · 11/03/2019 19:13

Thank you @Singlenotsingle I'll have a look. I'm so embarrassed by the state of my house

You're not alone Grin

Gooseygoosey12345 · 11/03/2019 19:55

I would love to do this for a job so I bet there's lots of people out there doing it. Try your local pages on Facebook.

beansontoastfortea · 11/03/2019 19:58

Because I don't even know where my stuff should go I don't understand how someone else could help me sort it.

It's reassuring to think someone would enjoy it though

I use the organised mum method? If that helps. It's basically little-and-often made into a scheme

HarrysOwl · 11/03/2019 20:00

I love sorting. I'll come and help, OP, in exchange for coffee and cake Grin

Get a skip.

Margot33 · 11/03/2019 20:05

Just do one room at a time. I had piles and piles of paperwork in the kitchen, I spent all Sunday sorting through it all. My house is okay apart from the intergrated garage. That's a mess that needs sorting out...a two day job (with tip runs) probably. Could you ask a friend to keep you company while you do it?

Scottishgirl85 · 11/03/2019 20:05

You can absolutely find people who will sort your house out and show you storage solutions etc. then it will be easy to keep on top of.
I'm a bit manic with our house, it is ridiculously tidy considering we gave 2 young children, as my rule is that I never go to bed without everything being in place. We don't have much 'stuff', apart from the kid's playroom, so it's incredibly easy to keep on top of.
It's all about decluttering and having a place for everything. And get a cleaner!

beansontoastfortea · 11/03/2019 20:28

Storage is definitely my issue!

Aw thanks @HarrysOwl I'll get in a Victoria sponge! ;)

Does anyone know what I should expect to pay for a cleaner? My mother in law is offering to help me but she's with @HarrysOwl and only asking for cake..

No idea why that is all in bold lol

Have you tried looking at Marie Kondo's ethos? I've read her books and they have been a great help to me in working out what I need in my home and where everything should be. Good luck.

DontCallMeShitley · 11/03/2019 20:33

I would love to do it for you, I actually enjoy that sort of thing. However, my house is probably even worse than yours because there is so much stuff in it after moving from a bigger one. I get rid of loads of stuff every week but am still swamped.

beansontoastfortea · 11/03/2019 20:36

@DontCallMeShitley argh I feel your pain! I shit you not we did about 15car loads to the tip with shit from the garden last year and I just feel like I'm always gathering crap no matter how hard I try to keep it all out...

No one helps me at home and my business is in the early stages so I feel like I'm putting all my energy and time into growing that and therefore the house is taking a back seat

Kallax units were game changer for us in the kitchen. They store ridiculous amount if stuff

LordVoldetort · 11/03/2019 20:45

Follow Mrs Hinch Home.
That woman gets me motivated to clean and I’m not even sure how (maybe it’s through shame)

I have so much clutter in my house, I know how I need to sort it but I can’t clean/tidy/organise with other people in the house.
Mine has been accumulated since 2017 when I got poorly and now it’s just so much that it’s too much to do in a weekend

beansontoastfortea · 11/03/2019 21:04

@LordVoldetort her house is beautiful but i just don't think I have that in me lol! Grin

OP posts:
LordVoldetort · 11/03/2019 21:06

I definitely don’t have that sort of level in me but having her on insta inspires me to do something than if I didn’t follow her (maybe it’s shameGrin)

beansontoastfortea · 11/03/2019 21:24

Haha @LordVoldetort I've just followed her

I just booked 2 days off work and I went full brutal on my house. I ended up with 7 massive bin bags for the charity shop and 3 big bags of rubbish. I allowed myself 30 minutes for breakfast and lunch but otherwise I worked room by room cleaning as I went too from 8am til 6pm. I had music on loud the whole day to keep me motivated (No neighbours here to upset!) And it worked! My house feels so empty now and I love it. What's worse is that we've only lived here for 2 years so I'm not sure where all the crap came from!
