...to want to punch the lights out of the sanctamonious cow who said "Can't you read" to me when I accidently drove against the arrows in Tesco's car park?

Sanctamonious cow. Wanted to shout back (but wasn't quick enough) "Sorry dearie I made a mistake - like the one your mother made when she had you"

or would that have been too OTT? Grrrrr!

I get irritated when people drive against the arrows and so wouldn't do this deliberately - it was an honest mistake. However, I never feel the need to shout at other drivers.

Would bet my life that this stupid bitch has done the same at times. Oh am sooooo angry and annoyed.

Forgive bad language but am sooo cross.

I blame Tesco whenever I can

In our local tesco there is a 'gang' working apparently where they come and ask you for the time and then steal your handbag

Bastards

It's chav central at our Tesco (and I'm not apologising for the use of the word 'chav' today)

Wanders off thinking the sun has gone to her head as feeling obnoxious......

Skribble · 09/07/2007 15:18

I find it quite satisfying to smile and wave cheerly and ignore any rude comments from other drivers. Tends to wind people up if you appear to be merrily oblivious and you can shine your halo and drive off.

amen · 09/07/2007 15:26

"People are too quick to get narked at other drivers and IME especially men."

Why do I always find these threads once messages have been deleted?

DaisyOink · 09/07/2007 15:59

There are arrows in Tesco's carpark? Not sure I've ever noticed them before, will make a special effort to look out for them now

TootyFrooty · 09/07/2007 16:00

I always thought DominiConnor was a man.

Confused

So did I.

Nightynight · 09/07/2007 16:06

I have made this arrows mistake in supermarkt carparks loads of times. I dont make it on the roads, because of No Entry signs.

the woman who shouted was lacking manners, imo. Lets hope she never makes any mistakes....

Flamesparrow · 09/07/2007 16:06

"I always thought DominiConnor was a man."

Me too....

maisemor · 09/07/2007 16:06

Amen to Amen (Mon 09-Jul-07 14:35:23)

akaJamiesMum, sounds like you know you made a mistake (in making the roads unsafe at that particularly time. I am not saying that you are always a bad driver) but don't like the fact that someone pointed this out to you.

I think you should have just smiled and waved sorry to her. Then, if she really did overreact in the way you say she did, she might be left feeling slightly embarrased at having overreacted.

moo · 09/07/2007 16:09

Are the arrows in car parks actually legally enforceable? I thought privately owned car parks were different to the public highway? Isn't insurance sometimes invalid in a private car park?

I'm a bit vague on this (have googled and can't find anything to clarify) but I didn't think arrows were legally enforceable - though obviously it's sensible to follow them the right way round

Lauriefairycake · 09/07/2007 16:10

They are definitely not legally enforceable - not on any privare property are they legally enforceable

I know this cos I used to be a traffic warden

Flamesparrow · 09/07/2007 16:11

Two tescos near me - one has 2 way for each aisle type bit, one is directioned.

Bloody confusing!!

TootyFrooty · 09/07/2007 16:13

But you could still be done for careless driving if you pranged into someone whilst you were going the wrong way.

moo · 09/07/2007 16:14

I think it's a bit of a grey area - I'm not sure how much authority the police have over private car parks either.

Moral of the story: don't have an accident in a private car park.

TootyFrooty · 09/07/2007 16:17

Agree with moo. V wise moral!

FioFioJane · 09/07/2007 16:24

moo you are right. This is what dh said to me when this pillock nearly drove into me, though it was my fault obviously

amen · 09/07/2007 17:25

they are not legally enforcable as you are on private land.however this will only serve to hinder the person at fault for the crash as their insurance will most likely refuse to pay up as they are not on a ppublic road while the accident will most likely be dealt with in a civil court and it will be easy to prove who was responsible for the crash.also most private car parks have disclaimers as you enter stating that by accepting a ticket/entering the premises you are agreeing to abide by their codes of conduct.

akaJamiesMum · 09/07/2007 17:50

Blimey - just come back and seen all these replies.

For what it's worth:

Yes - I was unreasonable in my original post - it's been a long day and a stressful one. FWIW I did apologise at the time when I realised what I had done but this woman was in no mood to see it or hear it. I guess she was having as bad a day as I was then?
I see some posts have been deleted here so I guess I am lucky not to have seen them.

But still stand by my ending that I bet this woman has done the same at one time or another - equally accidently. My point was that nobody is lily white and we all make mistakes at times.

...and yes - my post was an over-reaction.

CodinaKag · 09/07/2007 19:02

i always laugh and wave merrily

LordPan · 09/07/2007 19:42

yes, YABU...That would be Section 18 wounding offence, attracting something like a 3-5 year jail term, setting in motion an horrendous chain of events that would lead to fractured relations for your next generation, and setting an awful example of handling conflict resolution and emotional self-management for your children.

CodinaKag · 09/07/2007 19:52
