Being pregnant..

Lighthearted thread but AIBU to think pregnancy goes on forever? Grin

I feel like I've been pregnant for years, someone please tell me it's going to go quicker!! I'm getting so impatient, currently watching One Born Every Minute and insanely jealous of all these mums meeting their babies Sad

@Hedgehogblues I'm only 31 Sad but I'm getting so impatient.

I'm probably going to be induced though as have GD and DS is measuring off the charts. Had a private scan on Friday and he's measuring 4lbs 7..

Just don’t, I was so impatient! Now I realize my pregnancy was my last chance to get things done. They will come when it’s time but you won’t have time for the next year at least to have a decent bath, go out alone without a worry. Use the toilet, eat alone...bake...paint etc enjoy your baby free time. I spent so much of my time anxious to meet my lo that I forgot to enjoy myself as me. Love her to bits but If she could stay with her dad for two days I would leap at the chance.

Although I’m sure I’d ruin it by missing her terribly

Oh hedgehogs have you prepped any meals and done your online shops, decided on your 4th trimester snacks? I wish I’d been more prepared I felt like I was starving all the time.

Yes I have! My awesome friends filled up my freezer with individual portions I can just chuck in the microwave. Also in the freezer lots of lactation cookies and flapjacks. Have loads of cupasoups and microwaveable rice and my partner will cook me a batch of baked potatoes and boiled eggs every week because they both last about five days in the fridge. Also have an excellent large thermal mug that locks shut if you drop or let go of it.

I think pregnancy is hardest when you’re jut over midway through because you’re done with being pregnant but you still have a while to go. All I can say is that the baby will be in your arms soon, keep ploughing on! Focus on baby stuff, baby room etc. Do all the thugs you can only do while pregnant. Maybe go for a pregnancy massage?

Mine went quickly as we were waiting to complete on a house and it kept being delayed so panic set in! Make the most of sleep (albeit broken up with needing a wee no doubt...) and being able to go out without having to plan everything.

Yes it bloody drags in and when you feel like shit for the whole 9 months it takes even longer. Good luck op, once that baby comes out everything flies by.

Sort out any birthday cards/presents for the 3 months after you are due as your brain is likely to be bit of a haze for that time and present shopping just won't happen.

Kpo58 that's an amazing idea! I'm no longer pregnant, yes it felt like forever, but looking back it felt so quick!!!

Please everyone, have a nap for me, and go to the cinema, and go on long leisurely lunches with many mocktails, those are the things I miss a lot with having 6 month old DS, he is a gem, even if he doesn't sleep!

Did I mention to go for a nap?

I'm with you OP. Most of the things people say you should enjoy during pregnancy, you just can't.

Nap/sleep - yeah right! Impossible to get comfortable, in pain, need loo every five minutes. Ironically much easily to sleep when baby is born.

Eat long lunch - yeah right! Can't fit in a big lunch, anyway nausea and funny taste/smell senses doesn't allow any enjoyment of food.

Drink mocktails - great idea if you don't mind vomiting them right back up

Reading - impossible as can't concentrate due to nausea and pain. Once bub is here you can sit cuddling baby and read lots of great books.

Cinema - nope, can't sit comfortably in a chair. Do go to mums and bubs cinema after baby is here though, that's great.

@Butteredghost I could have written that myself. Currently sat on the cold kitchen floor eating pasta at 3am, that's as close as I get to enjoyment of food! And sleep? What's sleep?

Pregnancy was agonisingly slow to me, especially at the end. I had a planned c section at 38 weeks and it blew my mind that people who went to 42 weeks had to deal with nearly s whole more month of it than me!

@alwaysncxx I've found a Babymoov sleep belt does help with the discomfort! Definitely worth getting. Shame they don't sell something that switches my brain off Hmm

Ahhh. 32 weeks and 4 days here.
I felt my first pregnancy lasted 10 years!!! I was in pain, SPD, and just wanted my my maternity leave so bad. Then once I was off it was washing, organising, sorting baby clothes. You'd think it would have went fast with hiw much I had to do, but nope.
This pregnancy has gone pretty fast as I have a 19mo DS to look after all day, we moved house 2 months ago so lots of packing, sorting, cleaning, unpacking, sorting, cleaning.
But the hip pain at, the back pain, and I have gestational diabetes this time round so eating crap is out of the question (God I miss cake!).
Also a million hospital appointments as I'm a higher risk in this pregnancy, and all the appointments seem worse because either DS comes with me and is a nightmare in the waiting rooms, or I have to leave him with someone else which i hate doing.

My first pregnancy took forever, my second flew because I was busy with a toddler rather than thinking about it all the time. Except for the last 4 days which took about 3 months. DS was born at 40+4 and it was like as soon as I got to 40 weeks something flipped and I was like "Get this thing out of me!!!!!"

I went nearly 3 weeks overdue. It started to feel like some kind of massive practical joke and she was never going to be born! Had to be induced and even that took 3 days!

In my experiences (I’m 12+3 with DC3) pregnancy is shit. For me it’s not a remotely enjoyable experience.
With the first one I had hyperemesis and spent 38 weeks feeling like I was dying every day until she was finally born.
Second one I had SPD.
This one I’ve had horrendous sickness and I’m just completely wiped out from looking after 2 toddlers all day.
Not enjoying it at all Sad
