Birthday and no gifts

This is not the first birthday I have not received anything. I am not a grabby person but it just makes me feel like I don't matter to anyone. That I am not special. I always make birthdays a big thing for loved ones and no one reciprocates with me. My husband has confessed to not getting me anything and has no plans to do so either. Feeling very sad tbh. It is not a materialistic thing. I just feel un loved.

Oh sure he thought your birthday was Monday-and I have a unicorn grazing on my front lawn! Happy birthday OP!

That’s true but he also went because he felt bad that he didn’t bother. You’ve reminded him that you do matter.
I know it’s not the same but hopefully, he’s realised something and knows what he needs to do in future.

He went because he felt bad that he didn't bother not because the OP was upset. He is doing this purely so he can make himself feel better and then play the 'I bought you this and you're being ungrateful' card.

At least he went out to get you one now. Just smile and say thanks otherwise your child will feel upset. Every year my husband just buys me a card. I buy a huge box of Lindt lindors, cake and something I love. This year it was an expensive hair treatment £16. I give them to the children to give back to me, on my birthday. I cant be bothered to argue with hubby about lack of presents!

I am not going to go round the shops frantically looking for a gift so he feels better

Well said

I had to tell my husband that presents had to be bought the day before or it didn't count.
Fairly well organised now, 25 years on...
