To ask about Civil Service Success profiles?

Sorry I know this isn’t an AIBU but am posting for traffic and help really!

Civil service application that asks to confirm you have the relevant experience - a tick box initially and then when you click yes it brings up a box. Does anyone know what kind of depth of information they are looking or and in what format? STAR? Or just bullet points? Anyone managed to successfully get an interview with these, or even better are a recruiter themselves?!

TIA Smile

Usually STAR but keep it concise. Does it state the word limit? I've applied for and recruited for the CS

So success profiles is a new thing. It used to be entirely competency based when you would follow STAR and give examples but success profiles is aimed at allowing people to bring in their actual experience. I would play it safe and aim for a 250 word STAR type example. What level of job is it?

AyoadesChinDimple · 08/03/2019 22:02

Success profiles are new this year and so I doubt most departments are fully au fait with their use. Agree with pp to aim for 250 words.

ImperfectTents · 08/03/2019 22:11

What is the difference between this and competencies?

BeanCalledPickle · 08/03/2019 22:19

Competency based assessment looks only at the examples you give and not at your actual experience. It’s abiut what you can do not about what you have done, so in theory you could have been temporarily promoted to do the job you are applying for but prevented from saying that in those terms. Success profiles attempts to address that by allowing you to say what you’ve been doing without it being in an example.
