It seems such a small word but that amazing woman helped to start turning the tide not only as a woman but a black woman living in a time when her words could have had her killed.

Yes to Rosa Parks and her decision to refuse to move-

"I would have to know for once and for all what rights I had as a human being and a citizen."

She was also so much more than the bus boycott, she was a civil rights activist and the chief investigator of sexual violence against black women for the NAACP long before that. Amazing woman.

Just to add Rosa Parks also co-founded the Committee for Equal Justice a good decade before the bus boycott. They investigated racially motivated crimes especially sexual violence against women. They were bringing cases to national attention, encouraging reporting, lobbying the justice department, forcing governors to prosecute via public pressure. I'd recommend to anyone reading about her life, her activism for women was so amazing especially considering that she was oppressed both by sex and race.
