LEGAL ADVICE NEEDED ASAP PLEASE
I sold an iPad on Facebook he checked it on the door to see it was all working then handed money over and left, then later that day he contacted asking if I had a problem charging it which I hadn't ,my son had been on it all weekend with no problems. They sold it on as good condition... it has now been returned to them as it was faulty and they gave a refund but now they are knocking my door sending me messages for money back or they will take e to small claims court.
Where do I stand as they are harrasing me and pushed a letter through my door

Not a lawyer, but since they had ample opportunity to inspect the iPad, I would imagine that they have no recourse. Making sure that it charges is a simple and obvious check to perform, that doesn't need specialist knowledge.

Thanks.. if it was faulty why would she sell it on as good condition.. my friend just wants to know where she stands as it's been past to 2 people and was working wen it left my friends.

I’m with moist molly. Tough titties. They don’t have a leg to stand on. Are you sure they are trying to return the same iPad? I’ve seen so many scams, it’s unreal.

@Charmed2 As others have said there's nothing they can do and it's their own hard luck I'm afraid.

You buy anything online and agree a private sale after having ample opportunity to try and make sure you've happy with it - it's a risk you take and have to live with.

Don't like the sound of them harassing you at home though that's something I would not tolerate.

If they're threatening to sue you let them know they are welcome to get advice and if need be have their solicitors write you but ask they don't rock up at your front door again.

Cheeky gits.

I never understand the logic and thought process with people like that though. Things break and shit happens it can't be helped.

I had a friend that sold a horse and six months after the new owner came back absolutely livid and demanding vet fees because the horse was now showing signs of being lame.

Six months later FFS Hmm

BejamNostalgia · 06/03/2019 23:45

Yep. He’s trying to scam you. His iPad probably had a fault so he looked up the same one on FB, found you, bought it off you, then claimed the faulty one was the one you sold.

Very clever, he gets to keep a free functioning iPad and you’re out of pocket,

Do you have any sort of record of serial number or similar.? Then you could check it was the right one.

Thank you every one for your reply.. I posted this for a friend... shes a single mum of 2 boys and wont answer her door after a certain time... shes going to the police tomorrow just to see where she stands. I also think they are pulling a swift one.
