To wonder if I'll ever get to uni to do nursing?

I always wanted to be a nurse, after my college course I applied to my local university and my tutors encouraged me to apply to other unis too.
I didn't get into my home town uni but did one in another town. I didn't have the confidence to move away so I found a job in a care home which I loved.i worked there for 5 years and I met my husband and had our 2 children. I'm currently a stay at home mum however I'd love to go to uni when it's time to return to work. I know I won't be able to at the moment as I have a 9 month old and placements are like a full time job however once my children are at school I'd really like to.
My worry is that by that time I'll be 28/29 and I think ill be the only student my age on the course. That's if I could even get in now as the criteria I believe is now at a higher standard. Is there too much work to be done when you have a family to look after too?
Would love advice and pointers from anyone who's done it? Or should I just find a job in care which I did enjoy?
