AIBU to ask how you bring in delivered groceries?

The delivery driver brings the trolley thing onto my front patio, I then pick up each box/tray and carry it into the kitchen and quickly pull out the bags.

I don't like strangers in my personal space. Does your delivery guy come into your house? When I was at university, I used to have him come in but I just prefer this way now.

Mine stands outside and lifts the bags into the doorway. After he's gone I carry them to the kitchen. I had a bad experience with a grocery delivery driver a while back and I wouldn't have any of them step through the door now

Finfintytint · 06/03/2019 09:02

I have tubs ready at the door and transfer the shopping into them.

YahBasic · 06/03/2019 09:03

I get mine without bags and unload from the front door to floor, then move them through to the kitchen.

Home77 · 06/03/2019 09:04

Mine asks me where I want the shopping and brings it into the kitchen.

Crustaceans · 06/03/2019 09:04

The delivery person brings them into my kitchen and helps me to dump everything on the table.

LancsPear · 06/03/2019 09:04

How long are they there for? I only get big shops delivered (6-7 boxes worth). Takes about 6-7 minutes to take everything to the kitchen. Don't want them to think I'm taking the piss.

We have to keep the cats in, so he leaves the boxes in porch and I grab bags through into hallway. Then unload the bags once he has gone.

I give him last weeks bags to take back (Ocado bag recycling) so all the bags go back but a week in arrears.

We'd happily let him in if didn't have the cats to contend with (our deliveries are always at night).

CouldntThink · 06/03/2019 09:07

They either take it into the kitchen and I unload it there or I just unload it from the door step into my hallway. I never have bags.

To be honest it spends on the weather and if I want muddy footprints down my hall. Blush

LancsPear · 06/03/2019 09:11

I need the bags for my dog's giant poos.

We get deliveries without bags.

The driver brings the crate trolly to the front door and I just quickly tip each crate out (except bread/eggs obviously) onto the floor and put the shopping away at my own pace when he leaves.

IWantChocolates · 06/03/2019 09:13

We get them to come round to the back door and we unload straight onto the kitchen floor (no bags). Takes a couple of minutes to unload 3-4 crates then we put away at our leisure.

LancsPear · 06/03/2019 09:13

Crate! That was the word I was looking for. D'uh.

BrightYellowHat · 06/03/2019 09:13

Brings crates to the door, I carry each crate into the kitchen and unload.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 06/03/2019 09:13

Tesco man brings crates into kitchen and unpacks then with me. We don’t get bags in Ireland.

Kismetjayn · 06/03/2019 09:14

We get without bags and I put my reusable bags near the door. I quickly put everything into my reusable bags to carry into kitchen/bathroom as needed.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 06/03/2019 09:15

Ours are brought in to the kitchen and the driver helps me put it all on the counter. We usually chat about the weather, the traffic etc, they have all been lovely.
I usually get 6 or so crates and it takes less than 5 minutes.

Lululemonade · 06/03/2019 09:16

We usually get 3 or 4 crates without bags. I usually carry them through to kitchen one at a time and unload onto the side. Sometimes they offer to carry one through and I sometimes say yes and sometimes no, depends how I am feeling and if it is raining!!

RedRiverShore · 06/03/2019 09:17

Tesco man brings it into the kitchen and helps me unpack from the crates. Surely have the delivery man in your kitchen is no different to a plumber, builder or electrician or having a large item like a sofa delivered. Crikey if you have a bed delivered they may come into your bedroomShock

blackteasplease · 06/03/2019 09:17

They bring it into the kitchen and put on table if possible or wherever. We have Morrisons so they use bags that you give back either that day (ideally) or the following week. You get a bit.of money back if you return them.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/03/2019 09:18

Could you arrange delivery for when someone else is home?

hedgehoglurker · 06/03/2019 09:19

I keep crates/ laundry baskets by door when expecting a Tesco bagless delivery. Transfer everything there at the door. With Ocado, it is bagged, so I just direct driver to put bags down in hallway on the carpet runner.
I don't want them traipsing through my house over my carpet with their safety boots on.
I wouldn't take crates into kitchen myself to unload, seems such a waste of their time.

MiddleClassProblem · 06/03/2019 09:20

If Ocado I get bags and then give them back to recycle next time.

If another then I have shopping bags which I pack in a panic on the door step like I’m in some modern supermarket sweep under pressure.

I don’t like people in my space but also have a large dog so I have him shut in the downstairs while the delivery is there. I just have it all in the hall until the delivery person has gone and then ferry it to the kitchen.

Spicylolly · 06/03/2019 09:22

I just empty the crates on to the floor in my hallway, the fridge and pantry are there anyway (teeny kitchen, just moved in & we need to renovate) and it's more like a room than a hallway.

My delivery people love me as I'm super fast, they text now to see if I want it early as they know I only take 2 mins to unload ☺
Haha I sound so pleased with myself, how sad! 😆😆😆

Peleus · 06/03/2019 09:25

The delivery driver brings them through to our kitchen. He stays with us and so I don't mind him being in the house. The trays are too heavy for me to lift, so I am grateful that he does it.

DoYouLikeHueyLewisandTheNews · 06/03/2019 09:26

Same as @Spicylolly , i just dump it in the porch from the crates, sign for it then move it through once the delivery person has left.
