The delivery driver brings the trolley thing onto my front patio, I then pick up each box/tray and carry it into the kitchen and quickly pull out the bags.

I don't like strangers in my personal space. Does your delivery guy come into your house? When I was at university, I used to have him come in but I just prefer this way now.

Tesco Man brings the crates into the kitchen and often helps me unpack them.
He is only there a few minutes

Arthur2shedsJackson · 06/03/2019 09:28

They take the bags straight to my kitchen. Very near the front door.
However, before we moved, our kitchen was up 3 flights of stairs including a spiral staircase. Again they delivered straight to the kitchen.

JaneEyre07 · 06/03/2019 09:29

I always give the driver the choice as we've got dogs. If they're ok with them then I get them to dump it on the island in the kitchen, if not the front hallway is fine.

lololove · 06/03/2019 09:31

We have tesco and use the bags for delivery option. He stands at the front door and I unload the bags the few steps into the front room and then put away once he's gone. Combination of keeping the dogs out the way and one of the dogs being a rescue dog who doesn't like men

TokyoSushi · 06/03/2019 09:34

I get bags, they leave the crate at the front door and I quickly run the bags through up the kitchen, usually by the time they've gone back & forward with the crates I've emptied them

GreyhoundzRool · 06/03/2019 09:34

Mine comes to the back door where the kitchen is. I shut the dog in the lounge. He puts the crates on the doorstep and I hoike the bags out and put them on the kitchen floor. The delivery person doesn’t come in - kitchen not big enough !

user1471461069 · 06/03/2019 09:37

I usually get 4-6 trays. So he/she wheels them to the front door, I usually lift a couple, they lift a couple and we go through to the kitchen. We both unpack the boxes, always unbagged, usually with chat about weather, the amount of sugar I get through (I bake a lot), and running plans. Then I help them back with the trays. Never felt worried or threatened by anyone. They've always been very nice. Usually takes about 3-4 minutes.

DaffodilPower · 06/03/2019 09:38

I get the driver to leave the crates in the porch, and I unload into the hallway, move everything to the kitchen when they've gone. I find it easier/quicker that way and also don't like strangers in the house!

thenightsky · 06/03/2019 09:41

I clear all the kitchen worktop off before they are due. Then if its Tesco or Sainsbury, they put them at the front door one or two at a time and me and DS carry each one through and unpack as fast as we can. Same for Sainsbury.

Waitrose or Ocado bring them two at a time right into the kitchen (much better) and we unpack as fast as we can.

winsinbin · 06/03/2019 09:42

Driver brings crates to the kitchen and together we unload onto the island. Takes less than a minute normally, if it’s a really big shop it might take 2/3 minutes maximum. Unless he is a regular in which case we might take an extra 90 seconds to chat.

MillicentMartha · 06/03/2019 09:44

My Tesco delivery man once removed a giant spider for me from the bath! (Misses point of thread)

HedgehogGirl · 06/03/2019 09:46

Two person job (I got very cross the time DP had to work late and missed it!). Delivery person stands outside the front door, we bring the crates in one by one, dump the stuff in the hall (no bags) and pass the empty ones back. Sometimes I literally pick the crate up and tip it! Then when the driver has gone we put the fridge and freezer stuff away, then have dinner before tacking the rolling tins, bottles and other non-perishables all over the hall floor! Grin

IncrediblySadToo · 06/03/2019 09:48

They bring the crates into the kitchen, I unload it into the counter, most of them hold the crate at a good height for me to empty it quickly, some put it on the floor & just wait, others help ‍🤷🏻‍♀️

They are VERY unlikely to ever cause a problem given who they work for and their schedules. Any problems should be reported and it’s likely they’ll lose their job for gross misconduct.

TildaKauskumholm · 06/03/2019 09:49

Tesco man comes round to the back door, brings crates into kitchen and helps put stuff on kitchen table. No bags (I'd have them if they were free, then use as bin liners)

Lllot5 · 06/03/2019 09:50

Mine (Tesco) brings in the crates puts them in the kitchen unloads shopping for me, I don’t have bags, and off he goes perfect.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 06/03/2019 09:50

I unload straight into large shopping or IKEA bags at the front door, takes minutes.

LegitimateShite · 06/03/2019 09:50

I grab it all and dump it on the hallway floor, then move it through to the kitchen once they’ve left.

I’ve only ever once had a delivery guy come in, and that was after I’d had major surgery (I couldn’t lift anything and asked if he could get the heavier items out of the crates for me so my friend could deal with it later - he offered to help me get it all through to the kitchen, which was really appreciated.) It wouldn’t occur to me to have them bring the shopping into the house!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 06/03/2019 09:51

I need the bags for my dog's giant poos.

note to self: never get dog.

thenightsky · 06/03/2019 09:51

Both Tesco and Sainsbury driver both told me they are only allowed to deliver to the door.

Ocado and Waitrose were both happy to bring stuff right into my kitchen when I asked. I prefer this.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 06/03/2019 09:53

Most of the time I put all the bag-less shopping in the hall then take it to the kitchen after they're gone because my Bernard is a gobby & doesn't stop barking & the Goldie is a silly mare. Maybe once every other month or so it'll be my neighbours son that's delivering & he'll bring it through to the kitchen for me, because the dogs know him they don't get worked up.

BiddyPop · 06/03/2019 09:53

The delivery guy carries in 1 tray at a time from the van and puts those on the kitchen table, and I quickly unload each one while he's getting the next one (I don't get liners).

There's 1 guy who does it a lot and we chat away, and another has started recently who is not so friendly. But they are both only in and out again - I can barely grab the docket to sign or to return anything if needed as they head back again to the next drop.

I've been getting online delivery not weekly but relatively frequently (probably about 10-15 per year, maybe even more) for the past few years, particularly in the run up to Christmas and when life goes a bit (more bonkers than usual) crazy that I can't get to the shops easily.

whatsthepointthen · 06/03/2019 09:53

I take the shopping at the door. dont like them coming in personally

Home77 · 06/03/2019 09:54

I wouldn't worry, Mine carries the bags up to our flat up all the stairs. i do say thank you and apologise for the stairs and they told me, well it is what you pay for and can understand why i get it delivered. i find Ocado / Waitrose better / accommodating more that Saibsbury's. Also free delivery if over £60 with Waitrose.

Redwinestillfine · 06/03/2019 09:57

Delivery guy brings trolley to front door, I unload onto floor in hall, then move it to kitchen when he's gone. Agree I would not want them coming in. Firstly it's weird, and secondly I'd be tidying up all morning before they came Grin

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/03/2019 09:58

I get it in bags and the nice Sainsburys chap brings them into my kitchen for me. Went to Asda once and they dumped everything on my doorstep, never again! Oh, and I tried Tesco once and they didnt even turn up!
