When I was a kid I used to eat Chapsticks. They smelt so fruity Grin

Now it’s just nail polish that I pick off my nails and eat.

JaretsGirlfren · 03/03/2019 16:20

I’m a pregnant sponge eater too!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/03/2019 16:23

You apple core eaters, you do realise apple seeds contain cyanide?

Dontrainonmyparade · 03/03/2019 16:30

Soap. Dove soap.

Soubriquet · 03/03/2019 16:31

You apple core eaters, you do realise apple seeds contain cyanide?

You do realise you would need to eat A LOT of apple cores before it affects you?

SapphireSeptember · 03/03/2019 16:34

I know about the cyanide, you'd have to eat kilos of apple pips before they'd be enough to kill you. But, yes, I eat the whole apple.

Dead skin, the flaky skin off my lips, scabs, the white flaky stuff that I find inside my ears, snot (you end up swallowing it anyway, look it up,) I bite the dead skin off my fingers too.

I used to eat cake cases and bite my nails when I was younger, although I don't do that anymore.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/03/2019 16:36

I crunch ice cubes. Done it for years.

clary · 03/03/2019 16:43

oh yeah I eat the whole apple. I really don't like the apple core which you then have to carry around until you can bin it. I've done it for years and I am fine. I don't really think of apple cores as non food tho.

Some of these are a bit gross. 😄😄 I do chew Bic biro pen lids but I'm not eating them!

SoyDora · 03/03/2019 16:48

I’ve never actually eaten anything non food, but in my third pregnancy I craved sand. I think it was iron deficiency.
My DD1 (5) eats paper though 🤢. She was a weird sensory thing with her mouth. As a baby she constantly had something in her mouth, way more than other babies I knew, and it’s continued as she’s got older. She sucks her hair, chews the sleeves of her school cardigans... allsorts. She looked at a random object the other day (can’t remember what it was) and she said ‘I really want to chew that’!

Littleloafofbread · 03/03/2019 16:53

When I had horrible morning sickness, I really wanted to try a colleague's lime green Uggs - they looked so refreshing! I managed to satisfy myself with real citrus fruit though Grin

BusySnipingOnCallOfDuty · 03/03/2019 16:57

I chew a lot of things, mostly my fingers, nails, inside of my mouth and lips, scabs.....

I disgust myself.

My eldest chews all manner of things and has done since she was a baby. She used to chew through the spines of all her fathers DVDs and books.

You can buy chewing items but she managed to actually chew one into pieces Confused

TroysMammy · 03/03/2019 17:03

I used to eat the corners of newspapers until my DM said if I carried on doing that I'd be making my own toilet roll! I didn't fancy finding out where it would come from so I stopped.

I eat bogies, love the satisfying crunch of a fingernail and enjoy chewing loose skin off my thumb.

User67836 · 03/03/2019 17:05

Ice cubes are linked to lack of iron

Notso · 03/03/2019 17:06

Grin BertieBotts your my weird bitey twin I used to bite my bunk bed rail as well!

Connieston · 03/03/2019 18:13

Fairly tame stuff here just the whole lemon chunk they put in your soft drink, skin and all.

SpringForEver · 03/03/2019 18:21

Surely fruit cores are food though, just because most people throw them away it doesn't make them non food.

I don't wear lipstick or gloss, or lip salve/Vaseline but there must be a vast amount consumed every year.

Fiveredbricks · 03/03/2019 18:30

Y... You eat sponges? 😳

Mentallists.

Rockmysocks · 03/03/2019 19:22

Nolagerfor me: Plenty of old Reader's Digests in charity shops for her! Smile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/03/2019 20:51

You do realise you would need to eat A LOT of apple cores before it affects you?

True, but nobody's mentioned numbers.Grin

Pocketfull · 03/03/2019 21:01

The wrappers off sweets, you know like starbursts?
I used to get loads of grief for leaving wrappers everywhere as a child, so I just resorted to eating them. Healthy!

tor8181 · 03/03/2019 21:05

hot yankee candles

i dont use them as intended i take chunks out and put into a melter,i then put my finger in the melted wax wait for it to dry on me then nibble it

the baby powder and fluffy towels taste better than food

i also like smelling everything and anything

dove is one of my most fave smells

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 03/03/2019 21:09

Ihavebrillohair

Omg meee tooo. I used to soap them up in cheap apple shampoo and munch away. Didn’t swallow but went through loads of sponges. I can still remember the feeling of how good it felt thinking about them all day then coming home for a sponge munch.

People still assume I mean a cake sponge.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 03/03/2019 21:12

Gosh I just read back through and realised how many fellow sponge eaters there are.

miaCara · 03/03/2019 21:13

I used to eat newspaper and old book pages. I also ate the paper cases of small cakes -but that was mainly hunger ( wanting every scrap of the cake) rather than whatever caused the paper eating.
My DD eats the wallpaper off the wall beside her bed. Its quite a bit missing now and very annoying as the whole wall will need redoing .

GimmeBread · 03/03/2019 21:16

I used to eat novelty smelly rubbers in the 1980s. I distinctly remember a biscuit rubber that smelled like a custard cream. Ate the lot!
