Nightmare neighbours

Hi everyone. Can someone please give me advice on neighbour disputes and if I’m being unreasonable? We’ve only lived in our new house since December and we’ve had issues with our neighbours. Mainly just loud music in the night, banging around and screaming/shouting.

We live in quite old terraced houses. I’m not sure if the walls are super thin or something but we never hear anything from our other neighbours, only the dog barking occasionally.

My partner confronted them when the music was blasting till 1AM and waking our baby up. They didn’t even open the door just stared at him from the window and turned everything off. They ignore us whenever they see us in the street.

They have a teenage daughter who loves MC Chav music and likes to shout along to it, it’s even worse when all her mates are over...

I would just like to know if we should try and talk to them again or is it pointless? They rent but we don’t know if it’s council or private. It’s now escalating to the music being blasted through the day....😬

Do you know the people living on the other side of your noisy neighbours? Have they spoken to them or your council?
Best thing to do is contact your council's environmental health dept to make a complaint about the noise. You'll probably have to fill in diary time sheets for a while. Then if it continues they can install monitoring equipment and use the recordings to decide whether it is classed as a statutory nuisance or not.

We don’t know the people living on their other side unfortunately Sad We were actually thinking about going round and asking them if they’ve had any issues too. Maybe if we all complain something will be done quicker!

We’ve started to record the noise on our phones. Will start keeping a diary too!
