AIBU... to want to know where the broken glass went??

OK, I am very confused right now and I hope someone can help.

I have just done some washing up, and was drying a wine glass. Deep in my thoughts, I obviously applied a little too much pressure because I felt it ping in my hand and some glass fell on the floor (main part of the glass was still in my hand). I put the main part down, picked up two pieces from the floor. Couldn't see any more glass, so I checked against the broken part to see the pieces fitted. They didn't... it was clear that there was still a quite large piece missing.

So I looked to see where it had gone. No sign.

I have now hovered, poked about under the fridge and freezer, looked at all the surfaces in the kitchen... it is a very small kitchen. There was a bag of recycling on the floor when the glass broke.... I have been through the whole thing and transferred each item individually into a new bag. Still no glass. Where did it go?

Is it lurking somewhere, ready to leap out and attack me next time I go into the kitchen in bare feet? Or has it gone through a wormhole into a parallel universe?

~Have you looked in the sink?

Yes... well, there was still washing up water in there at the time, but it has now been emptied. Nothing there.

On the windowsill?

SuchAToDo · 03/03/2019 11:35

If it's a clear glass rather than coloured glass it's likely there but blended in (because you will see right through it)...could any of the missing glass have broken into small enough shards that washed down the plughole?...do you have any gaps that it could have fallen down?..

I would keep checking if it was me to be honest because if it is on the floor somewhere you wouldn't want to step on it and need a trip to a&e to pull it out and have stitches

It’s somewhere on your floor and you have to literally sweep inch by inch to find it.

IAmRubbishAtDIY · 03/03/2019 11:36

Further back under the fridge than you can reach?

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 03/03/2019 11:38

you will run it up your feet in about 3.7 weeks time even though you have hoovered, swept and mopped the floor umpteen times just to find it.

I have already gone over the whole floor.... definitely not there. I don't think it's on the windowsill, but DH is cooking in there now. It's possible that it broke up, but it would have been big enough or enough pieces that I still should have seen it. Don't think it could have got very far under the fridge... the gap between fridge and floor is very low, but I suppose it's possible.

As luck would have it, my plan for the day was to do a thorough clean of the kitchen... so extra motivation now!

Well, I have cleaned every surface in the kitchen and still haven't found it. c
It's probably sitting on top of an ironing board in another dimension.
