"She is said to find the constant clothes changes (up to five a day if the itinerary includes shooting, tea, and a formal dinner) and the omnipresence of a full household staff rather stressful,"

Now I am quite fond of Kate Middy but AIBU to have snorted very loudly at this sentence?

Oh to have such a stressful life!

I stand corrected the Wueenbis still horseriding at 92 not 100. Still pretty good going. Not a lot of people of 100 have all their faculties either.

user1457017537 · 01/03/2019 17:02

Queen obviously

user1457017537 · 01/03/2019 17:05

Re Royal children not being able to go out without protection officers. With the amount of stabbings in London I would think that was a major advantage.

KingHenrysCodpiece · 01/03/2019 17:15

Ok having staff around all the time might be hard.

But my personal opinion is if we were drawing straws I definately got landed the short one by comparison.

I had a shite childhood, leading to issues in my 20s and 30s and as a result my life is still incredibly difficult now. Of course its perhaps not a fair comparison, but my life would be considerably better if my choices were made swapped from 'what do I have to wear' to 'what should I change into now', and from 'too many staff around' to 'no one around'

Ditto, being driven, instead of driving, having an incredibly generous wardrobe budget instead of a parse one, having several homes with several houskeepers to liase with to one tiny one. Having an accountant ensure the bills are paid to dodging to worrying about turning the heating on.

She has the life of riley her problems are equal to her position. My stresses are potentially life limiting. Her stresses are considerably diluted by wealth and position. I do have sympathy I imagine it must be difficult at times and I really like Kate, but my reality means it all sounds very first world.

Besides Meghan Markle gave her independent life in a heart beat so it must offer considerable pros to outweigh the negatives

KingHenrysCodpiece · 01/03/2019 17:16

ugh I my sentences got muddledBlush

lubeybooby · 01/03/2019 17:18

I do hope she gets the odd day here and there to slob out in pj's watching netflix

chillpizza · 01/03/2019 17:22

To be fair if we work on the statistics that most men will cheat st some point. At lest she’s a loaded future queen (as they wouldn’t divorce) rather than a about to become single mum on minimum wageif he is having an affair. Makes it apt easier to forgive and move on don’t you think, she’s got her babies, she’s got staff, she’s got a world like no other, as long as his discreet and keeps it out of the papers I would hazard there is an arrangement.

OftenHangry · 01/03/2019 17:28

My grandgrand parents were chipper till last days. Thought not horseriding. Wowza!

It's really not just healtcare, but it's a combination of genetics, exercise, diet, pollution etc.

Ghanagirl · 01/03/2019 17:36

Interesting thread, imagine if these comments were attributed to Meghan Markle...

savanna22 · 01/03/2019 17:49

The queen still going strong at 92 is testament to a life of ease, servants, chauffeurs, etc, no money worries. private doctors, no waiting lists for scans etc. Most 92 year olds are worn down after a life times toil.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/03/2019 17:55

Interesting thread, imagine if these comments were attributed to Meghan Markle...

But they are not, what's your point? No one has mentioned Meghan Markle on the thread.

SemperIdem · 01/03/2019 18:07

savanna

The Queen was born to that life. As was William. It is utterly bizarre sounding to people of upper middle class and lower backgrounds

Ghanagirl · 01/03/2019 18:34

@ChardonnaysPrettySister
My point is that MM is always negatively compared to KM by certain posters.
I’m am allowed to decide what I wish to comment about.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/03/2019 19:22

Well, you complain that MM is being brought up but ironically it's you who does it.

And no need to @ me.

ColeHawlins · 01/03/2019 20:02

nteresting thread, imagine if these comments were attributed to Meghan Markle...

How do you mean?

Abra1de · 01/03/2019 20:11

BalloonSlayer

Most of the things you cite are not to do with good doctors. Security staff not calling an
Ambulance? Baths being too hot? Hospital receptionists letting through rogue callers? George VI dying in the fifties?

chillpizza · 01/03/2019 20:18

She means it would of been shut down as being racist. Any negative views on MM are deemed as racist/by racists yet other royals can be spoken of negatively and that’s fine and dandy.

SerenDippitty · 01/03/2019 20:22

Prince William doesn’t strike me as likely to cheat. Harry, on the other hand...

It’s often the ones who seem least likely to cheat who end up doing so. There was a bloke at my work, couldn’t believe it.....

SerenDippitty · 01/03/2019 20:27

Also she doesn’t have to leave her huge home(s)/grounds to get loads of exercise. Unlike someone in a 3 bed semi.

savanna22 · 01/03/2019 20:48

Yes, to not be able to have opinions on someone because it might be deemed racist is ridiculous. I bet in most cases people who post about her aren’t being racist in the slightest, personally i always forget she’s mixed race anyway. I think it’s racist to bring her colour into discussions, why should it be mentioned.

Meghan Markle is a human being, her colour is irrelevant, she’s married into the most privileged entitled family in the country, she should be able to be criticised the same as any of the rest of them.

Personally i’d sooner talk about Prince Andrew, but he seems to be keeping his head down at the moment.

BalloonSlayer · 02/03/2019 10:09

Abra1de I meant poor medical care.

If you or I - God forbid - had a placental abruption we would phone for an ambulance ourselves. Sophie had to do it through staff and they let her down.

A NHS hospital will not discuss a patient over the phone with anyone but the next of kin, certainly not her husband's granny.

Someone upthread said that Princess Margaret's scalding was her own fault - I feel relieved to hear that as it felt like something that would happen in a dodgy care home and it made me feel sick. Knowing that it wasn't poor care makes me feel slightly less sick. It must have been awful Sad

I actually don't disagree that the Royals live so long because of their access to good health care. Any little niggle and they can get it seen to at once. No trying to phone the GPs at 8.30 on the dot while doing the school run, or 6 month waiting lists, for them.

Abra1de · 02/03/2019 14:15

But those things aren’t actually medical care. They don’t involve receiving medical treatment from a doctor or nurse. They concern poor decisions made by domestic staff or a receptionist.

Udre · 02/03/2019 17:58

I share my birthday and birth year with Kate and do understand why she is feeling so unhappy. I absolutely hate publicity.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 02/03/2019 18:39

I share my birthday and birth year with Kate and do understand why she is feeling so unhappy

So sharing a birthday with her gives you an unique insight into her life? How so?

winniestone37 · 02/03/2019 19:15

I'm not a royalist but I can't help but feel you're being harsh. It's an interview, she's being as honest as she can. You just want someone to pick on. She's human, there are much worse people.
