So listening to the news about the lady who killed her husband but is getting a retrial due to emotional abuse.
His attitude was well from the evidence she clearly killed him so why retrial?
He totally ignored the fact that she and her son claim she was abused over a number of years

Is he aware of the background?

Maybe he's of the opinion murder is murder, she had other options other than to kill him. It's not like she struck once in self defence and hit too hard, she hit him over 20 times. Doesn't excuse what he did to her, but shes taken someones life intentionally, she should be tried equal to any other murderer.

Murder is murder.

However it's obviously a case where she broke after years of torture. I don't think everyone who is guilty should have the same punishment.

I guess we all have different opinions. I agree it was more than one blow but I feel there was mitigation to reduce to manslaughter.

Well, presumably he's not well versed in the law and overlooked the significance of the psychiatric report? And the whole unsafe conviction thing?

What would his attitude be to the men who murdered their wives but used provocation as a defence because of real or alleged affairs? Different legal issues, but curious if he'd take the same view?

His seemingly deliberate ignorance would piss me off either way.
