DD (14) had the first injection and promptly fainted. The second one was traumatic. She's just refused to have the third one. They were all done at school but last week she refused to have it and told them I'd take her to the doctor to get it done.
Can I do that? Should she have it?
Tried to research it but there's lots of opinions out there and I'm really confused!

I had mine privately on my mother’s insistence as I was just a little older than the cut off for the programme through the school (not sexually active at this stage).

Few years later still ended up with grade 3 abnormal cells and had part of my cervix removed.

All of that said, I do think it is important and I can confirm that one more needle in the arm is better than three directly into the cervix for anaesthetic... 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think there's a lot of mis information on here as cervical cancer smears will still happen as you don't need to have hpv to have cervical cancer.

There's also a lot of scaremongering which makes it sound as though all children who don't get the vaccine will end up with hpv and cervical cancer.

Read about risk factors in this publication from Princeton University. An hpv infection does not mean cervical cancer - 95%+ resolve with no intervention.

Vaccine is for 2 strains of hpv that are associated with cervical cancer - there are others. You can be vaccinated & still get cervical cancer. Smear tests are essential and the Patient Information Leaflet says that.
