Appeal allowed, but a retrial has been ordered and bail refused. Also it seems to be on the basis of bipolar and dependent personality disorder triggered by abuse rather than directly on the basis of her husband's coercive control. But at least it shows the law on coercive control having some effect in practical terms.

Let's hope the new trial happens quickly.

Just seen this though not yet read the details.

Glad there's going to be a retrial.

Huge thanks to Harriet, Julie and Justice for Women (who I really must set up a standing order donation to).

YANBU. Abuse victims need to be recognised and cared for

She’s home, has been released on bail Smile

I am really really pleased
her case brought into the open the long term low level coercion
and the fact that the judge has granted her bail - after she openly said she killed her husband with a hammer
is a good thing for equality
I hope that she and her kids can start to move on from here

I knew a guy who had killed his wife.
When he came out of prison, her family threw him a party in our local.
He was odd, but must have been to have married her.
Any sort of mandatory sentencing is dumb

I noticed she was released this afternoon although the court had said tomorrow. There is a date to go back to court with a trial date set for 1st July, if needed. It seems promising that with the evidence submitted at the appeal that the charge could be reduced or altered so that the time served is sufficient

Justice for women have been brilliant

If you go to Justice for Women there is an appeal for her not to go to a second trial
