Big family holiday with a 2 year old

After a bit of help! Both DH and I are 30 this year so have decided that we will have a big holiday. DD will be 2 when we go, we are also TTC. Ideally we will go in August (teachers). But we are at a bit of a loss where to go!

Any ideas? We have a good chunk of savings we are willing to use, so throw us some ideas please 😊

If you like Thailand/ Cambodia/ Vietnam - I would travel through one/all of them. Beautiful countries and 2 year old will be welcomed with open arms! (Thailand/ Vietnam/ Cambodia in order of ease for tourists I think).

If TTC you should avoid places with the Zika virus.

I would go for a luxury child-friendly resort, Mark Warner or similar, somewhere with a crèche and babysitting service Wink

If its August I'd stick to Europe, you could do a luxe version of interrailing or just head to a Greek island? Since the weather in the med in August is good I can't see the point of going long haul with a two year old, plus the zika risk would rule out a lot of places.

A cruise could be a good option too? It really depends what sort of holiday you like.

South Africa!

Do the Kruger national park, there’s some amazing lodges there. Lots of animals to spot for DD.

Depends what sort of holiday you want- relaxing, sight seeing etc. When we took my
2 year old away she was happiest in the pool and we got time to relax in our villa when she had a nap. A villa holiday in the sun probably doesn’t count as a ‘big trip’ but we had a nice time and felt like we’d had a holiday. I don’t think we’d have managed anything particularly cultural and would have found a hotel harder going than a villa.

It does depend on your own tastes really, some great ideas here. Just if this is a big trip it could be a good chance to do some travel etc before your 2 year old is less mobile/ cheap and you have another as well! Enjoy choosing!

Cruises are amazing with young kids, best place to be able to get some time to yourselves also.
