So, sure the school were wrong to send the letter, but how do you end up owing that much!
Not keeping on top of it is only going to put more financial pressure on your family.

You have no idea what people’s circumstances are. Whoever gave this letter to the press is lower than low.

I read that earlier and thought that a fine for the GDPR breach would be costlier than what’s owed to the school.

It is a lot of money to owe but they still shouldn't have let that email be sent out.

Perhaps they're not keeping on top of it because they're in debt. Do you know how many families are living in poverty in the UK?

It's a very serious breach and one which can't be passed off as an accident as it sounds like it was deliberately done as a shaming exercise.

Even if it was done by accident it would show a significant failing in their information control procedures which is still a serious matter.

I do not believe that a head sent this to every parent in the school on purpose, to shame this one family!

Depends how many children, easily at the clubs I used to use 10 years ago it was £2.50 for breakfast club (30 mins) and £7.50 (until 6pm) after school. So thats £10.00 a day some 10 odd years ago, I would expect £12 a day would be an average amount today, so £240 a month based on 20 days

Most afterschool clubs are run privately, they may be school staff but they will have a different contract, and the person running the club still has to pay the school for premises, electricity, plus staff costs on top, crafts , food etc. It isnt a charitable concern.

It's for a club, so depending on how many kids go there it could build up quite quickly. That could be a month's worth of arrears. It's an appalling data breach on behalf of the school too
