It was so lovely- especially the Michael Angelo - but there was No emotion Not a scream, tear or tremble in sight - WTF?

Pinkginxx yes it's an Eliot reference! Glad it made you happy!

ElspethFlashman · 26/02/2019 22:47

I prefer to believe there was at least a strangulated gurgle. A wild trembling clutching of a companions manly anorak sleeve.

I HAVE to believe!

ItsABeautifulDayNow · 26/02/2019 22:48

That's still my favourite post of all time EVER

tomatostottie · 26/02/2019 22:52

I may be being a bit dim today... but those photos aren't of the Sistine Chapel are they? - so maybe that's why you and others weren't screaming because you weren't in the Sistine Chapel.

Just found the other thread - must have missed it the first time.

Youandwhosearmy · 26/02/2019 22:52

Sistene Chapel plus bastardised Prufrock makes this my favourite thread of the day

happy face

ElspethFlashman · 26/02/2019 22:54

Yeah I was thinking it wasn't the sistine Chapel! I remember it being small and low and dark.

LellowYedbetter · 26/02/2019 22:54

Did you at least levitate a little bit op?

HelmutFrontbut · 26/02/2019 22:56

What about the sixteenth chapel? 😂😂😂

Isitweekendyet · 26/02/2019 22:57

I hear there was a tourist caterwauling at the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island... think she's travelling.

ChinkChink · 26/02/2019 22:59

When I was there I was:

a: Astonished at the relatively small size of the most famous fresco. I was sort of expecting it to be about four times as big

b: Amazed that there was such a job as 'professional shusher'.

CherryBlossomPink · 26/02/2019 23:00

Aren’t those pics from St Peter’s Basilica? You can’t take photos in the Sistine Chapel - you have let us all down by not having even a token wail though!

vinegarqueen · 26/02/2019 23:01

Wot not even a little yelp as a tour group trampled over you?

Heartily agree though - was much more impressed by all the giant pineapple statues.

CoffeeCoffeeTea · 26/02/2019 23:03

Love the photos of St Peter's Basilica.

ShastaBeast · 26/02/2019 23:13

Not photos of the sistene chapel so def not moved. But I took a sneaky one in there many years ago. I bet loads of people take them.

FlagranceDirect · 26/02/2019 23:19

I was there last year and took earplugs just in case.
I think I may have sneezed but that was probably the smell of the crowds. But who knows? My nose might just be the only bit of me that gets overwhelmed by culture.

And thought of this thread

Strokethefurrywall · 26/02/2019 23:35

Ahhh someone link me to the Sistine chapel thread, I have to re-read.

Fuck she was so weird! 😂

Strokethefurrywall · 26/02/2019 23:37

Stand down! Found it!

I've just read the first page and I'm laughing all over again!

AlliKaneErikson · 27/02/2019 00:08

Ah- thank you for the link; I was a little perplexed. How did I miss that gem?!

Mumsymumphy · 27/02/2019 00:32

That is an excellent thread! I'm now imagining some sort of French & Saunders sketch with them cupping their hands to their mouths and screaming at the ceiling GrinGrinGrin

WarpedGalaxy · 27/02/2019 01:51

I’m not sure I believe you, OP. I can’t imagine you yourself didn’t feel any emotion. You visited the Sistine Chapel and were not overcome with an irresistible urge to giggle and didn’t go purple in the face in an effort not to succumb that urge? Come on now, I’m thinking at least one hastily stifled undignified snort escaped you.

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 27/02/2019 02:04

Topseyt · 27/02/2019 02:21

Surely a visit to the Sistine Chapel always gives rise to an irresistible urge to scream at the Michaelangelo?

Why didn't you? I am disappointed.

Topseyt · 27/02/2019 02:24

Actually, I even think that the Pope should go and scream at the Michaelangelo regularly whenever he is around the Sistine Chapel. It would set a good example to tourists.
