To think what fresh hell is this?!

Exactly that!!

What fresh hell is this?!!

43 years old... noticed a hair on my chin. Yep. A HAIR on my chin. BTW I'm female. For clarity. I feel that's an important piece of information. Anyway, back to the hair. It wasn't just a little hair. It was jet black and stuck out at an angle - like it was stood on end. I mean - how long has said hair been there?! And why the hell has no one told me?!!! Have people been doing that thing when talking to me where they're trying desperately to maintain eye contact whilst thinking all the while 'don't look at the chin, must not look at the chin.'

Upon said discovery I grabbed my tweezers. I say grabbed but to be honest I weep when trying to pluck my eyebrows so I couldn't lay my hands upon said tweezers straight away since I hid them and vowed to never inflict such pain on myself ever again. Anyway, I digress. Had to stand very close to the mirror because at this point I realised that my eyesight is just not quite what it used to be and focusing on said hair just wasn't quite that easy. It took forever to find the little bugger again and when I did I couldn't quite grab it and as such my chin now looks like it's been attacked by a small animal.

Not satisfied with the discovery of said hair, as I was stood in the bathroom, practically nose to mirror I was a little taken aback at the line of fuzz on my top lip! Again, I ask you all dear people, what fresh hell is this?!!! Knowing that my DD has Veet wax strips (others are presumably available?!!) in her shit tip bedroom I decided I was on a roll and that I'd tackle said fuzz. Fuck me. Dear God. I read the instructions and held the strip in my hand to warm it. The first strip I put on I pressed down firmly. And then?...

Then I was too scared to pull it off. I counted to 3. Then I counted to 3 again. Then I counted to 10. Again I ask you, what fresh hell is this?????? Plucking eyebrows has nowt on this!! Weeping??? Rolling round on the bathroom floor! However... I'd only done one side. There was no one home to dtd and it fell to me to finish what I'd started.

Needless to say that whilst my chin looks like I've been attacked by a small animal , fuck me my top lip has been annihilated!!!!

I ask again dear friends, what fresh hell is this getting older?!!!

How long till the bleeding stops and the red swelling goes down?? I look like I've had lip fillers that have gone wrong!

Very carefully deploy teething gel ( applied using a tiny swipe on a cotton bud ) along arch line to stun your face before attempting eyebrows.

PartyHatOnADog · 26/02/2019 21:43

Genuine question: why the hell have I got a halo of thick pubey black hairs (I'm blonde) around my right nipple, but naked on my left? These arrived about 6m ago. I'm mid thirties.

Samind · 26/02/2019 21:44

I think you sound brilliant @travis. I love the winter as it always results in thick black tights and I just play with my hairy legs 😂😂😂

Iamdanish · 26/02/2019 21:44

Ooh love your description 😀.
Please post when you reach the tender age of 50. It will no longer be A hair. Noo your eyebrows will by then have relocated and grown into a nice beard, ALL over your chin. Your eyesight is shot so you think everything is OK until you find your best /worst friends: your specs and mega magnifying mirror. Now you see not only all your new facial growth but all your wrinkles magnified a hundred times. And I don't have to mention what gravity does to us all 😢.
That you can top off with all the menopausal physical stuff. Perhaps we should all just consider a sex change.

Happyinheels · 26/02/2019 21:46

@DemelzaPoldarksshinerrefiner great tip! Thanks! My face is currently twitching so I best leave it for tonight. That can be tomorrow nights self flagging little treat for me beauty treatment!

@PartyHatOnADog Grin in the past 6 minutes 😂 I wonder how many of us have checked our nipples since reading this thread?!!!

I quite like mine! Just one hair on my jaw line, one day it's not there and the next it's about a centimetre long, so satisfying plucking it out! It appears every 3 weeks or so!

Rtmhwales · 26/02/2019 21:50

@PartyHatOnADog Mine is on the left nipple! We must be a matching set. Nothing on the right for me. And it grows so much quicker than any other hair on my body. Swear I'm plucking a half inch strand out of there every second day.

confusednorthner · 26/02/2019 21:50

I was just gently stroking my chin and wondering it if I was the only one, now I've nipples to check too😂

Sneakyisbest · 26/02/2019 21:51

I've found my people. Grin

In my early 20's I had a really fine blonde one on my back about waist height, it was at least 2 inches long. At first I thought it was just a head hair that had fallen down my back, then tugged it. Shock

Have had the chin bristles since mid 30's, I am always running my hand over the area to check, then deploy magnified mirror to dig them out.

Our only hope is going gray, so they (hopefully) won't be as noticeable.

Newadventure · 26/02/2019 21:52

I've been plucking hairs out if my chin and neck since I was about 20 Confused
I get loads of them.
I actually get a stubbly chin when they grown back through. There's about six that just keep coming.

hickerydickerydockmouse · 26/02/2019 21:52

Try being a south asian. We never not have them. and it's not only the face [weep] Threading would have been quicker and easier in this scenario. I would never use wax on my face unless it's hot wax and done by a professional.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 26/02/2019 21:52

At least you tell a good story, OP! Better to be hirsute and a hoot than smooth as a baby's bot and dull, dull dull!

PartyHatOnADog · 26/02/2019 21:54

6 months. MONTHS, PEOPLE! Grin

But yes. I just counted. There are 9 circling my nipple like wolves.

Sneakyisbest · 26/02/2019 21:55

@OutwiththeOutCrowd

hirsute and a hoot Grin

That would make a great username.

LifeImplosionImminent · 26/02/2019 21:55

I love plucking my chin hairs. I check for them constantly and am really disappointed when they haven't grown back yet. It feels so good pulling them out!!!

Amfeelingfline · 26/02/2019 21:56

Oooh toe hairs, and nipple hairs too (plural AND on both sides). And on top of my feet... Hairs everywhere!

PartyHatOnADog · 26/02/2019 21:56

Rtmhwales

Did we pick each other's boobs up in swimming pool changing rooms or something? Confused

Alsohuman · 26/02/2019 21:56

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but when they turn white they glint in the sun.

Samind · 26/02/2019 21:57

Fingers?????????

Amfeelingfline · 26/02/2019 21:58

Argh! And nose!!! Blush

Summerisdone · 26/02/2019 21:58

My DM is 48 now and has had myself and 4 younger siblings plucking these chin hairs for a fair few years now, because her eye sight goes all blurry too when she tries to focus in the mirror and remove the hair all at once Grin

I'm still 6 months off 30 and found my first grey hair yesterday Sad and thanks to my dark hair and pale complexion I've been having to deal with the lip fuzz since about 16... I've found the Nair hair removal cream best for this, just use the applicator to dab it all over, then rinse off after a few minutes and completely fuzz free for at least a week

Ispywithmycynicaleye · 26/02/2019 21:59

My DP had the audacity to point out my chin hairs. So I pointed out that they were his fault - snuggling up laying my chin on his hairy chest. He completely believed me and felt really bad Grin

I use immac hair removal cream (for the face) on my chin and upper lip. Unfortunately I have to look like Santa Clause for 4 minutes before I'm a woman again 😂
