To elope...

Ok so this isn't really an AIBU I JUST NEED TO GET IT OUT AS I AM SO EXCITED AND CANT TELL ANYONE IN RL! (So actually I'm BU for that, and the shouty capitals, sorry!)

We've booked to elope. Ceremony will be in just over three weeks (we booked and got our paperwork in at the 11th hour!), a beautiful spot miles from where we live. Nobody knows. We're just going away for the weekend with our kids and coming back married. We're not even "properly" engaged, no ring or proposal, just had a really practical discussion about wills and things now we've got kids and decided to get it done quickly and quietly. The venue is providing witnesses and everything.

I've bought a well fancy dress from the sample rail of a local boutique for a bargain, because whilst we didn't want to invite everyone and it's about the marriage and not the day I didn't want to miss out on the dress...just had the fitting appointments confirmed which has tipped me into this current frenzied excitement.

I'm so excited, I can't even think straight! It's so cheesy but my partner is my complete dream partner, even after two kids and almost a decade together we laugh daily and work as a team to face everything. He's a total dreamboat.

AIBU for being a cheesy div who is very excited by the romance of an elopement (even with two young kids)?! AWBU for not inviting anyone else?

Exciting. Me & DP will be doing the same when the kids are a bit older - DDs are only 2yrs old and 3 months at the moment.

Where are you going to OP? And how old are your DC that are going with you?

MummysBusy · 26/02/2019 15:34

Thats brilliant op, good for you. How exciting! We've been trying to do the same, but struggling to find a place that will provide witnesses. Please come back and post an update after you're hitched!

@WoahThereMama our two are 2 (and 1/4) and 11 months. I'm not sure how they'll be but we've got a double buggy for during the ceremony. I imagine the 2 year old will just shout "no mummmmmyyyyyyyy!" Or sing let it go...
Congrats @longearedbat that sounds amazing! I actually think black wedding togs are very chic and as looking for a black gown but just after Christmas is the wrong time of year apparently! Best of luck. How you have the happiest, most laid back of days xx

@MummysBusy we're heading to Crear on the west coast of Scotland. They do everything included in a little elopement package. Even providing witnesses and a pot of soup on the hob for a warm welcome when you get there. They're all so lovely I highly recommend them!

Ahhhh everything is BEAUTIFUL OP. I loooooove the dress, especially with the sleeves. So elegant!

PositiveVibez · 26/02/2019 15:47

Ah congrats OP. I'm excited for you!! Both outfits are beautiful.

Hope you have a fabulous day 💐

Eminybob · 26/02/2019 15:49

Aww congratulations op!
Dh and I did this a couple of years ago. No regrets it was perfect (I also made sure I had a wedding dress as we didn’t have anything else traditional, although mine wasn’t as glam as yours)

MummysBusy · 26/02/2019 16:18

@hiphip thank you, I'll look it up!

PinkTicker · 26/02/2019 16:32

Congratulations OP. That dress is absolutely stunning. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

babysharkah · 26/02/2019 16:34
