To hate DH's beard?

DH is growing a beard. I hate the way it looks, the way it feels when we kiss/hug and the way he fiddles with it constantly. AIBU for telling him how much I hate it and asking him to get rid?

Personally I love a beard but maybe tell dh you didn't sign up to snogging a Brillo pad?

I'm sorry but you are being unreasonable , you are perfectly entitled to hate the beard , but it's his face and he can do what likes with it. Would you like it if he told you that you must change your style in some way?

How would this go down on here if the roles were reversed, I wonder.

I would value his opinion on my style but doesn't mean I would change it. Just like he hasn't shaved his beard off despite me hating it!

It's not really his style, he just gets sick of having to shave every other day but even with the beard he is constantly clipping and tweaking anyway ...

It would go down badly if sexes reversed, and I'd be the lone voice saying that changing minor details of one's appearance to please a partner is Ok (just never, ever be confused about what you consider 'minor' and don5 let your decision creep).

If he says no, then you're a bit stuffed, but the two things you can do are

• get loads of nice beard conditioning stuff so it's as soft as possible and always clean
• make sure you always comment negatively if you ever see someone bearded making a mess when eating (extra points if detritus remains after the actual eating is completed. Probably tactless to comment on men you find handsome, but if you ever do, make sure they're cleanshaven

I get sick of having to go and get my hair cut so I end up growing it long before giving in making that appointment , does that mean that my husband can pass judgement? Or is it my hair and my choice?

Of course you can tell him you are not keen on him having a beard. Why even ask here? DH knows how I feel about a beard on him and wouldn't grow it. Equally, DH is dead set against tattoos so I am not getting one. We care about each other's preferences, that's what partners do.

I don't like the scratchy feel of my husband's beard when we kiss. Or even if we hug and it rubs against my face. But he looks better with a beard and really likes it so I put up with that. YANBU to mention it, I would if I was you, but don't expect him to change it for you. It's up to him what he does with his body hair, just as it's up to you what you do with yours.

in the week dp often does not have time to shave and ends up with a beard mind i tell him have a shave or no hanky panky for you!

It's up to him obviously.

However, I'm eternally grateful my DH hates beards as much as I do.

I hate beards. My dp knows if he grows a beard i will not be kissing him. His choice, as is mine to go nowhere near him if he does

I hate DPs beard, he knows I hate his beard. He still has the beard.

We did come to a sort of compromise of he'll shave it off for our wedding, as long as I dye my hair back to it's natural colour for it

Just tell him you’ll never kiss him with a beard. That should sort it out.

I don't like beards either. Obviously it's his choice but nothing wrong with making your preference clear.

I could have written this. I hate my dh's beard and I also have significant skin problems so is quite a limiting factor on that front ☹
