Home baking is rubbish - update

Happiness!
Following on from rubbish attempts at cooking with yeast, I ‘ve cracked baking something that doesn’t require a million ingredients and possibly as cheap as shop bought....
Ta da...Choux buns with cream and coffee icing.

I was going to make scones but didn’t have enough SR flour or baking powder. So the recipe next to it was choux bun that mostly requires flour, butter and cream for the insides ( which was sitting in my fridge waiting for a nice pudding to go with). Made in in one pan on the hob and bang in the oven.
No faff and they look amazing. And I’m amazed.

Ooh I've never made choux buns. I'm an ok baker, but I thought they were supposed to be difficult. Well done, OP! Am salivating at the thought of them, especially with coffee icing and cream!

No picture, never happened.

It's like you don't know how mumsnet works....

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 22/02/2019 15:03

Here’s a close up so you can’t see messy kitchen. Downside - have eaten two for quality control purposes.

Well done!

Procrastination4 · 22/02/2019 15:06

If you’re making scones, check out the scone recipe on BBC Goodfood site -uses yogurt and vanilla and golden caster sugar and the scones have been delicious any time I’ve made them.

foxsbiscuit · 22/02/2019 17:31

these look amazing well done. could you share the recipe I always thought they'd be difficult

Marymarg · 23/02/2019 18:29

I love baking but have never tried these as I thought they'd be too hard.

Here's a simple recipe for scones

They look lovely but the way.

clairemcnam · 23/02/2019 18:31

Sound lovely.
I have just made white chocolate cookies. Amazingly easy and way better than any I have ever bought in supermarkets, at a fraction of the price.

zod1ac19 · 23/02/2019 19:02

Ooh, what was your white chocolate cookie recipe please?

MaggieAndHopey · 23/02/2019 19:12

They look great! I keep fucking up choux pastry. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it never rises properly in the oven.

Procrastination4 · 23/02/2019 19:21

Those sprite scones look lovely and really easy. I think I’ll be tempted to try them over the next few weeks.

clairemcnam · 23/02/2019 19:29

I use this recipe
