Labour is imploding...

Another MP has resigned this morning and have just heard him being very scathing on BBC2 about Corbyn, saying he;s not fit to be Labour leader, is anti-semitic and totally unfit to ever be PM.

If more start to leave, Labour and Momentum will be the same thing. All the moderates will have left. Labour will be a fringe party, irrelevant to most people apart from the hardened left-wingers.

So are we seeing the death throes of Labour?

I hadn't seen/heard that Sturgeon quote and was struck by how true it is in black and white

"problem labour have is they think they're the "good guys" and therefore by definition can't be doing anything wrong"

This. It seems to be seen as letting the side down to admit any flaw - if you point out misogyny or anti-semitism you must be... a Blairite, regardless of actual personal history. The sheer level of vitriol heaped upon anyone who is supportive of Corbyn generally but is not a complete clone is terrifying.

Deadbudgie · 22/02/2019 12:20

I'm really hoping that this moves us more to the centre in politics again. Corbyn and his cronies have allowed the Tories to move more to the right.

Its a mess

Who would have thought that David Cameron would make Tony Blair look good?

Windowsareforcheaters · 22/02/2019 12:24

Don't forget we've been here before with the SDP. The difference this time is some Tories are moving as well.

The only way a real change can occur is if we change the electoral system, boring but true.

The age of cloth caps and bicycles to work is long gone. Blair tried to pull the labour party into the modern age and apparently failed. Hopefully, a few left wing snowflakes will not be enough to elect this quasi communist party to office. Corbyn is the modern Foot, but maybe worse. Equally unelectable.

BorisBogtrotter · 22/02/2019 13:24

I don't think you can say its just Labour.

There are a whole load of ministers that are set to resign ( and possibly quit the party) if May doesn't rule out no deal brexit.

The whole of politics is in flux.

I often wonder what the country would be like today if John Smith hadn't died.

This. Me too. Sad
