We work in an academic environment with closed door offices. I'm a lowly junior researcher in a shared office with 3 others. A new senior academic has moved in next door to us and his office shares a wall with us (but on the opposite side of the room to me). He plays trance / club-type music really loud all the time. I can feel the bass coming through the walls. And he has loud skype calls there where we can hear both people very clearly. I went in once and asked him to use headphones and/or turn it down and he was super apologetic (although tbh, I think it was fake because this has been going on for months apparently and my office mates have all been telling me how horrible it was last summer; I was away on mat leave so wasn't subject tot his).
The music has continued to be very very loud and it's bugging me. It's a minor thing I know but it's just annoying, and I'm probably overthinking the fact that he's a senior male academic and we're all junior (very junior) women. Just whinging here to blow off some steam. I don't really want to confront him again.
