To be worried about this pink meat in my chicken sandwich

I've just had a shop bought roast chicken sandwich and it's chicken breast, it has pink bits in it and now I'm paranoid (I have ocd so do worry and obsess over things)

Is it normal for chicken breast to be pink?

was there bacon as well?
chicken cooked with/wrapped in bacon sometimes turns slightly pink.

LittleMissCwtch · 20/02/2019 14:52

No it was chicken and stuffing, no bacon, I've had it pink with the bacon and that didn't worry me as I assumed it was the bacon!

Pull it apart and see if its raw. Some chicken does take on a pink hue even if cooked.

LittleMissCwtch · 20/02/2019 14:59

Sorry if I sound a bit silly but how can I tell if I pull it apart, it's pieces in a sandwich, most of it looks fine it's just some pink bits on the pieces?

Does it look like a different texture? Some cooked chicken is a little pink but if it's raw it will have that raw chicken texture and look. I wouldn't worry too much, I'd be surprised if chicken cooked for a packaged sandwich would be likely to be undercooked.

Nesssie · 20/02/2019 15:04

Pull the piece of chicken apart where the pink bit is. Then, does the pink bit look like 'jelly' like raw chicken does, of does it have the same consistency as the cooked part. (Sorry, its hard to explain!)

If in doubt, don't eat it. Take it back to the shop if feasible or just chuck it and buy something else. You are extremely unlikely to get ill even if you have eaten some, so don't worry about that.

LittleMissCwtch · 20/02/2019 15:47

The trouble is it's all quite soggy from the stuffing so it's hard to tell, most of the chicken looks ok after pulling it apart once I got home, apart from this really pink bit. Thank you for your help though, it's so difficult not to be paranoid Sad

I wouldn't eat it and I'd be going back to the shop 😷

FissionChip5 · 20/02/2019 15:49

I’d make my self vomit it up. 🤢

spugzbunny · 20/02/2019 15:57

It looks fine. Please don't make yourself sick! Christ! Don't eat the rest maybe but you'll be ok.

pumpastrotter · 20/02/2019 15:58

Sorry OP, that doesn't look cooked. I'd be taking it back to the shop and drinking water (possibly a laxative too) to try and flush my system.

LongWalkShortPlank · 20/02/2019 15:58

Looks undercooked in the second picture Sad

AegonT · 20/02/2019 16:05

In the second picture it does look a bit undercooked. I would complain but don't panic about food poisoning; I've accidently eaten chicken like that a few times and been fine afterwards. I have had food poisoning from other things so I'm not immune or anything.

LittleMissCwtch · 20/02/2019 16:07

I have sent a complaint with photos and the supplier code to them, I guess I'll just have to wait and see, I stopped eating it as soon as I saw the pink but obviously don't know how much I ate that was pink Envy - not envy face!
