To ask about beta blockers

Posting here for traffic. Been on beta blockers since the death of my first husband almost 6 years ago. Finally bit the bullet and came off them 2 weeks ago....gradually, as advised.

Since his death my weight crept up and up and I'm just wondering does anyone know if beta blockers (bisoprolol) causes weight gain. Since I stopped them, I've lost almost 3kgs and thinking is this just coincidence.

Not UR to ask!

It's not a side effect listed in the BNF though

I found it did because I tended to stay put rather than move about iyswim

They didn’t cause weight gain with me, I took on and off over about 5 years-3 different anxiety spells.

I think they raise my appetite and have contributed to slight weight gain with me.

I would love to have that as an excuse but in all honesty I think I just enjoy my food too much.

Propranolol made me put on a stone, think because it made me so tired i wasnt as active.

Were you put on bisoprolol for anxiety?
Strange choice as only propanalol and atenalol are the known beta blockers for anxiety.

But it's not a known side effect in the BNF
