Background: we've discussed marriage and all that. Dp had a proposal planned but we've been struggling a bit with adapting to life as parents so I said for him not to ask.

Cue today. Ds isn't well, he's been feeding on and off all day and hasn't slept at all. Dp came home early from work to take over and managed to get him to take some expressed milk and fall asleep, yay Smile

I got a bath while Dp was settling Ds and when I got out he said he'd go get us a McD's, so we could eat and rest before Ds woke again. Not really sure what came over me but I burst into tears and in the midst of comforting me he said "god I love you so fucking much, please marry me". Stood in the kitchen, me with wet hair and wearing one of his t-shirts and not in a cute rom com way, I look a mess.
I mean it's romance novel stuff right? (If I say yes).

That's a great proposal. A real show of his love for you.

I held dh's pint while he said "I will marry the fucking crap out of you".

GirlOnIt · 18/02/2019 22:59

He's usually quite a good sleeper vivarium. But he's got a cold and a blocked nose so he's struggling to feed and then he's cross because he's still hungry.

He's had quite a decent feed though so I'm going to head to bed and Dp is going to keep him down stairs for a bit so I can sleep. He's rather cutely laid on Dp's chest right now.

I seriously can't cope with no sleep. Dp knows it and he's really, really good at night times.

It's so nice to read this amongst all the sad tales of betrayal and disappointment. Congratulations!

Steeve · 18/02/2019 23:12

Aww, brilliant proposal.

I proposed a week after meeting, DS has been a shit all day (autism), partners Ex was being a twat, in my bedroom at parents listening to music, snogging, just felt overwhelmed with emotion and popped it. 21 years later, still together, always been something serious preventing the actual wedding, think me and DP should get around to it!

Many congratulations SmileSmileThanksThanksWineWine

* Dp knows it and he's really, really good at night times.*

I want to marry your DP now.

GirlOnIt · 18/02/2019 23:26

Ha! He has his dickhead moments too vivarium. But credit where credits due, he's really good when it comes to feeding me and letting me sleep.
My mummy did warn him when we first started dating though. I'm pretty much a toddle cranky if I'm tired or hungry. Happiest with a snack or a nap.
So he did know what he was getting into.

That is one of the loveliest proposals I've ever heard of.

(Mine was on holiday, on our last night, after a lovely meal. And a big row where I just exploded and he squished me back together. We're now 6.5 years married, I still explode and he still squishes me back together.)

Redcampions · 19/02/2019 00:25

Think that’s a great proposal

steff13 · 19/02/2019 00:25

French fries and a husband - your cup runneth over. ❤️ Congratulations.

Nothininmenoggin · 19/02/2019 00:39

What a lovely post. Congratulations it sounded like the perfect proposal, genuine and from the heart and a McDonald's to boot.

WarpedGalaxy · 19/02/2019 00:43

Shit, I’ve got tears in my eyes. That’s just lovely. Simple, honest, straight from the heart. And he got you a McFlurry, man’s a keeper. Congrats to you both!

MrsCatE · 19/02/2019 00:53

Congratulations!

Mine was me in bed, half asleep. Beloved gets in and says those romantic words:

"I've just been speaking to our financial adviser and he really thinks we should get married"

20 years married and they say romance is dead!

Omgineedanamechange · 19/02/2019 01:03

I actually think that’s one of the most romantic proposals I’ve ever heard of. I have a tear in my eye.Blush

MyKingdomForBrie · 19/02/2019 01:08

What an absolute keeper! Being serious, he sounds lovely.

Seren85 · 19/02/2019 01:10

Aw that's a lovely proposal. It is real and reflects your life together. Congratulations! My DH proposed in a rock club, to the worst possible song (played at wedding, hilarious now) and it was real and us.

Tinkerbell456 · 19/02/2019 04:43

Congratulations and jubilation etc!,❤️🍾💍 Hope the wee mite feels better, and best wishes to all three of you.

Tinkerbell456 · 19/02/2019 04:50

Actually, DH and I became engaged in similar romantic vein We were at the pub with friends, another couple. The subject of marriage came up, for some reason. My friend said to her boyfriend, seemingly just testing the water etc, “would you marry me?” He said, rather unflatteringly since they’d been living together for about three years at this point, “no”. To take some tension out of the atmosphere ( okay, no one was sober here ) I asked my boyfriend if he would marry me, laughing. He said “ yes, of course I would you silly cow. I’ve been going to ask you for ages”! Cue insistence on phoning parents, purchasing of champagne etc. 27 years ago now! Incidentally, our friends did get married and are still together as well!

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/02/2019 05:11

Ahhh that’s so cute. You know he’s a keeper!

Letthemysterybe · 19/02/2019 07:48

It sounds romantic to me. I hate overblown contrived performance proposals.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 19/02/2019 07:53

He sounds like a keeper.
Congratulations!

sandgrown · 19/02/2019 07:58

That's so lovely it made me cry . Congratulations! Xx

CeeCee58 · 19/02/2019 08:14

Congratulations OP.

If I have got the right poster, I think I was on your other thread. Apologies if I have the wrong person. I’m glad you seem to have patched things up!

All the best for the future but make sure you’re making the best decision for you. Smile

GooodMythicalMorning · 19/02/2019 08:16

super cute. He sounds like a keeper.

SayNoToCarrots · 19/02/2019 08:27

Thats nice - it's about wanting to marry you, not a dramatic proposal. Just FYI, alcohol doesn't make it into breast milk in high enough quantities to have any effect on your baby (0.3% blood/milk alcohol levels means you'd be unconscious)
