To be so embarrassed

A friend had asked me to send her a video from my birthday party- it was a silly video someone filmed on their phone showing all of us dancing and then another friend making an impromptu speech about me and getting people to raise their glasses. It was a private party full of friends- nothing super embarrassing happens in the video but it the speech is very personal (this is relevant). Anyway my friend (who made the speech) has been asking for a copy and I kept trying to text it over WhatsApp but it wouldn't work because the file was too big. Last night I was a bit tipsy (long story) and I was (stupidly) still fumbling about with my phone trying to send this stupid video. Anyway, somehow, I can't believe it but I have managed to WhatsApp it to a completely different person!!!! ShockBlushConfused I've accidentally sent it to a colleague, and what is worse, posted it on her birthday WhatsApp GROUP she added me to, which is full of work related colleagues and about 20 people I've never met!! ShockBlushBlush Why oh why?!!!! I didn't even realise I'd done it last night and stumbled across my mistake this afternoon checking my messages. I can't believe it did it!! BlushI wasn't blind drunk, just had a few glasses but obviously didn't realise I was in the wrong chat! I can see from WhatsApp that about 20 people have already seen it. BlushShockShockWill they have sat and watched it all through or just dismissed it once they saw it wasn't anything to do with them? It's about 10 minutes long!Blush
Obvs there's nothing I can do except chalk this down to experience and never send messages when have been drinking...... but OMG!!!!! BlushBlushBlushBlushBlush
AIBU to never want to venture outside again!

😂

I thought you were going to say you'd sent some other dodgy video. Hold that thought: it could be a whole lot worse! You can delete it I think.

Never, ever send messages after a few drinks!

palmtree80 · 18/02/2019 18:23

SadBlush how do I delete it?

Delete it off WhatsApp and then anyone who hasn’t seen it can’t.
And just be like “oops wrong chat.” And then say no more.

We’ve all been there.

whyhaveidonethis · 18/02/2019 18:24

You do realise that what's app has a delete messages for all function? Probably a bit late now but for future reference you hold on the message and it gets highlighted, then you click delete. It offers you the option of delete for you or delete for everyone. It may be too late now as I think you only have a few hours to do it.

Personally I'd never bother watching an unsolicited 10 min video but maybe someone else has far more time on their hands.

Yutes · 18/02/2019 18:26

Click on your message on WhatsApp. Say delete. It should say delete for everyone or delete for me.

It will still be visible to Anyone who has already seen it. Plus they can’t unsee it anyway. I’m sure they realised it was a mistake.

Crockof · 18/02/2019 18:28

It won't delete for everyone now as it's too late. Just put sorry wrong group. I'm in loads of groups and often get sent wrong things

KittyMarrion · 18/02/2019 18:28

I thought you'd sent a sex video too. At least it's not that bad. Just do as suggested. Delete and say sorry wrong chat.

palmtree80 · 18/02/2019 19:20

Thanks guys! Feel a bit less mortified now! Yes, at least it wasn't a sex vid! (Not that I have any of those!) hopefully no-one was interested enough to watch the entire thing...! Keeping phone on pocket next time I'm drinking though ConfusedGrin
